My buddy and I make an annual trip each year to his cabin in upstate PA. The idea of spending a few days with a good friend in his beautiful mountain top cabin always makes for a great long weekend.
We usually head up during early November but due to an upcoming Kansas trip :jumper: , we had to schedule earlier this season. The weather warmed up a little each day and in response the deer movement slowed down.
We each had a doe and buck tag, so we'd keep our fingers crossed. We arrived mid-day Thursday. His cabin is located on top of a mountain and anywhere you walk is usually downhill...What a view!

The only thing that rivals the view is the cabin!
Just a wonderful place on a few hundred acres.

There are a few established food plots that always provide us with some nice opportunities, but each time you hunt them the deer visits become less frequent. They wise up very quickly.
Here's the view from my stand my first evening out.

About an hour before dark several does came into the field. I set my sights on this one in particular.

She fed in and out of range for about an hour before making her way just under the tree out in front of me. When she put her head down and quartered away I eased into my anchor and took the shot. The arrow went in on her last rib and out tight on the elbow taking her cleanly. She trotted off about 40 yards looking around, having no idea what had happened. The arrow was in the ground where she had been standing. A well placed arrow is always a wonderful thing, she laid down not 50 yards from my stand.

The next morning heading into the stand before light I came upon a nice pile of bear scat. I swear it had some steam still floating around. Just as I bent down to take a look with my flashlight the darn bear exploded out of the thicket not 10 yards away! I wasn't laughing at the time! Always good for the nervous system. I snapped this photo on the way back out that afternoon.

Here's a nice photo of the sun rising on my Silvertip one morning. (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f281/Wyoming1/IMG_0671.jpg)

Beautiful hunt. Great doe and pics. The cabin owner would have a hard time getting me out of his home after a weekend like that.

Hey guys, thanks for the great comments. My buddy refers to it as a cabin, but as you can see it's a gorgeous home inside and out. Totally secluded and tons of critters!
Yep Timmy, I'm a righty this year! If my wife has any say I'm a righty for life.
Hey Ron, let me know if you ever decide to part with your Tip, I've got a great trade you may like! No Tip should ever sit on the rack this time of year!
Good luck everyone.....Tim
