Will Permethrin do any damage to wool clothing?
Thank You. Mike Lee

TTT
I'm curious as well.

Wool is similar to hair, I believe not as long as it is 100% wool. Wool synthetic blends, I can almost guarantee there will be damage.
-
It is sold and used in horse barns here. I have used the 0.5% stuff for 20 years on all my fall hunting clothing including synthetic blends. I have a wool pull over but have not sprayed it

By the time it is cool enough for wool, isn't generally too cool for ticks? Seems that way in Illinois, anyway...
Doesn't answer the question at hand, but it made me wonder. :dunno:

Hawkeye,
I had ticks crawling all over me one mild day walking in 2' of snow here in PA!
They must hatch with the first bit of sunshine!
I spray everything...bug jacket (nylon mesh), rain jacket (nylon) so not sure what part of "synthetic" you might be concerned about...a special blend?
-
I've sprayed fleece with no problems.
-
I've been spraying it on my kom wool for years with no problems.
-
Well maybe it's the brand of permethirin that Uncle Sam gives us to treat our uniforms. I sprayed this stuff on my headlamp on accident and it melted it.
-
I put it on a woolrich, no problem, now I just add it to my long johns.
-
Z, DEET will melt plastic and paint maybe the spray had DEET in it?
-
Thank You guys,I didn't want spray it without hearing it from someone with experience.
