I've got a Samick Sage and Kodiak Magnum. I'm kinda meh on the Sage, but I love the Kodiak Magnum!
It fits my hand like it was made for it and shoots where I look, its great.
I'm planning on dropping some cash this winter on a new bow, probably from *********. I'm thinking like 300-500 or so.
What bows shoot like my bow? I know the obvious being other Bear bows, but are there other makes of bow that have a similar grip and characteristics? I'm open to almost anything, I just wanna know what I should be trying out.

Denton hill is some sort of archery show?
I want a bow before spring, maybe I can find an excuse to get one in the summer too:) I dunno where I'll be in the summer if I'll still be around PA though....

Yes Denton Hill ETAR Plenty of vendors selling new and used bows. You can try before you buy.
Last week in July.
-
If you like that Mag stay away from the Super Grizzly or the super Kodiak, they will change how you feel about the Mag.
-
I had also the Sage and Bear Kodiak Mag. I had the BKM stolen and gave the sage to my son.
I now have three Bob Lee recurves that fit my hand perfectly and shoot where I look. Can't go wrong with Bob Lee bows.

GO TO DENTON!
E.T.A.R.
You'll be beside yourself with all the bows....and all the guys that make em, just hanging out with all the time in the world to talk to you about the bows! Try em all.....betcha cant even come close hahaha!
-
$300 to $500 you could have a field day with a few vintage bows, blasts from the past :)
-
Go to Denton, book a place to stay early or camp .....but that is the place to try every bow you need to....every bow.Poconos is not that far and well worth the trip for anyone ineterested in trad archery. That way you can test drive to see where your 3-500 should go.

As everyone else has said, there is simply no substitute for trying a variety of bows before you decide. There are just too many personal factors in terms of fit, preference, etc.
Are you looking for something that is the same/similar length as the K-Mag? Because that will narrow your options. There aren't that many production bows that are only 52." If you are open to longer bows, even just 4-6" longer, you'll have a lot more to choose from.
But despite owning other bows, I agree with you. My '70 K-Mag has a special place in my small collection.

kalamazoo is in either jan or feb and there will be a lot of bows their as well. Sad to say but I have a grizzly that I shoot lights out that I paid seventy five bucks for and it is the most inexpensive bow I own! Good luck finding the "one"
-
If you just want opinions on other 52" bows....hard to beat the old Brownings....beautiful wood and great shooters
-
I think they are out of the stated price range, but Ive heard Cascade Bows are nice. They have a takedown that looks similar to a KMag.
-
I can certainly appreciate where your coming from, I have a new to me 1965 Kodiak and I can't believe how good it shoots, I mean it's dead on nuts good, and though it's only 47# it shoots more like a 55#. I would love to get a bow that is set up the same way from one of the great bowyers.
-
i went through my bows and find that the grip of My old K mag is fairly similar to the new Super Kodiak. maybe just a bit lower, but more similar to the grip than any other bows. I know what you are saying about those Bear grips, they seem to work for the most people. The Bears are in your price range and they are available, no waiting time.
-
Yes, take a look at a Cascade Golden Hawk mag. Great little bow that will definitely make you feel differently about the K-mag.
-
I have around 20 Kodiak Magnums but hands down the best shooting short bow I have owned was a Browning Cobra.
-
You might like a 52" Red Wing hunter if you like the Kodiak Magnum. Very similar bows. Wing-Div Head Ski model handle is almost identical to a mid-sixties K-Mag.
-
Funny you should mention that, my friend is getting a Red Wing hunter shortly, I'll let you know.
