Title: Realistic goal?
Post by: Pipefish on November 12, 2011, 02:03:00 PM
I'm holding off on buying an armguard and quiver, as I hope to make them from the hide of my first deer.

Does anyone have experience with such projects? And what method did you use to condition the hide properly?

I'd love to see some pics of your own creations!

Long sleeves and a practice quiver that hangs from the belt I  picked up for 4$.
Off to the "how to's", thanks!

Lofty goal Pip. Way to go! Armguards & gloves are easy. E-mail for directions.

Deer hide is too thin to make a decent arm guard unless you laminate it to stiffer leather. You can make a nice Plains style quiver but the hide should be tanned. You can probably get a tanning kit from Tandy's Leather Company or other sources.
