Here we go again....somehow folks are starting blatant off topic posts ...I'm not sure why since you are suppose to agree to the rules when you register, and the rules are featured at the top of this forum, and we have to make repeated posts like this....but we are yanking them left and right, its really ridiculous at how far off topic some folks will post and expect to get away with it.....repeat violators will be removed.

Good reminder Terry. Thanks.

I think the rule thread should be in flashing yellow letters, and then you have no excuse for not following or reading the rules. Thanks for the dedication Terry and Mods.
-
How about a sticky thread atthe top with the titles of the Off Topic Hall of Shame? or the members could vote the most outrageous off topic, and chastise the daylights out of the responsible party? Might be kinda fun.
-
And change their status to cadet member as well
-
Perhaps a zero tolerance policy for this transgression may not yet be warranted, however for the assurance of maintaining the integrity of the site, the protection of its members and to alleviate the excessive firefighting of the moderators, a less lenient and automated reprisal should be adopted.
The code we uphold shall not be compromised.
Thank you Terry and to all the moderators and to the members who hold fast to maintain the integrity of this gratuitous site.

i've added a reminder and link about this at the quick reply form, at the bottom of topic page.

Rob, you do not get the credit you deserve. You are truly the backbone of this site, and Terry is the head. Thanks for all you do and always being on top of everyones problems and handling them. :notworthy: :campfire:

One of the problems is that if a thread is started and has a number of responses I assume it is a "go" for the administrators so I add my 2 cents. The latest that comes to mind was about rubber boots...was that an ok thread? If not inquiring minds would like to know. I guess what I am saying is that some things are obvious...others not so much.
-
Bill, in the off topic thread it explains exactly what is off topic, the rubber boots seam to me a paiece of trad gear and would be ok. I posted on that thread.
-
Bill....there is never a guarantee that any administrator will see a blatant off topic post before there's a few or many posts. There is no way we can check every thread as we all have real jobs and aren't constantly monitoring.
There is no pre-screening of posts that are 'checked' before they are allowed....so, we just catch them the best we can....thankfully we catch most of them pretty quick.
If there's a blatant off topic post, there is a 'report post' whistle at the bottom of everyone's post....most don't even know its there. That button will alert all admins via email, and we can get them pretty quick that way too.
I haven't read the rubber boot thread....but I would gather by the tittle that its about hunting boots, and that's OK....if its not about hunting boots....hit the alert and I'll have a look.

Two words. Smack Down! A constant problem with miscreants is best resolved by a firm application of discipline. Our fine leaders should not have to keep posting this same message. :deadhorse:

Some learn the hard way.....and thats Ok. Its human nature and isnt going to change. Ya do it once, pay more attention and smarten up. Ya do it twice, your testing, being inconciderate and your a problem. Ya do it again, and your GNC (Got Nothin' Comin') and youve ruined a good thing for yourself.....cuz your gone! You guys do a great job and obviously its not always cake. Thank you guys Terry and Mods for everything. The Gang is a bible of sorts to me and I appreciate all you people do and I feel privileged to be here.

Thanks for keeping things running smooth.

Had another one just this morning...and the author stated yet again.....'I know this is not tradbowhunting related'.... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
When he was told it was off topic by a member, he asked this..."How else to get it to the Tradgang members attention"?.... Boy...that's what I'd sure like to know!!!!

It would be kinda cool if there was a thread where the PETA peeps could post so we go in and gnaw on them a little.

Just had to remove another member.....seems folk really don't care about the rules here as they blatantly ignore them.
How hard is it to understand this rule 'NO NON Trad Bowhunting videos' !!!!!

this is a good subject.
there are many factors involved about alleged "deals gone bad". be well aware there can be mitigating circumstances and we all need to be absolutely sure before calling a person a crook. web based slander and defamation litigation is a very real thing.
unlike too many places on planet earth, in this great us of a, when one is called out on nefarious charges, one is considered innocent until proven guilty. but woe unto those that are guilty ....
-
No worries Jon...I put yours back....want to see if this guy follows up or not.
There is also a little leeway for long time members with no history of ANY problems at TradGang vs someone with hardly any posts.
I got a call from another long time member about FIVE guys being owed from ONE member....we'll see how that one turns out.
