Gents,
Whether you have a man cave all to yourself, or a space you share with the family, we all tend to pick up some things to decorate our spaces. Bow racks, lamps, artwork, unique quivers, whatever...What cool and unique trad archery related items have you picked up and have on display?
Post some pics if you can. I have a floor lamp with a magazine rack base, as well as a table lamp, that were put together from Bear bows. The table lamp is made from risers, and the floor lamp is made from a couple of full bows for the lamp and risers for the magazine rack. They were made by Flloyd Eccleston. I'll post pics later if I can.
Show us what you got!
-
Is Flloyd Eccleston the guy that used to have a shop in Mt Pleasant?
-
Here is a bow rack I made. My wife keeps saying I need to stain the center dark. Maybe after deer season.

Just a spot where I hang my stuff in my little archey/hunting work area. When I mounted these bucks i used a part of the ones hide to make my back quiver, I thought that was pretty unique.

Not sure how old this quiver and arrows are, was an fleabay find a few years back. The arrows are Bear and they all have the Bear Razorheads on them. The Michigan Archery Hunting License is from 1964.

Yup, Flloyd had a shop in Mt. Pleasant. ChippewanArchery. He was a good dealer of Bear archery, and a great friend of Fred's as well. Mr. Eccleston is also know for having had one of the most complete and inclusive broadhead collections ever. I believe that Wade Phillips owns that collection now.
Nice pics guys keep em coming.
-
Mudd...I love that photo.
-
I have a very unique lamp and rocking chair made by a friend, but haven't quite figured out how to post pics here. If someone here would post them, I will e-mail the pics to them.
Thanks
-
Mudd...You look much younger in that photo! :bigsmyl:

Mudd -
Nice to see that photo get framed and displayed.
Danny
-
Nice picture Mudd you should make some copies and send me one.
-
The picture was a gift from Rik O'Shay and I know that I thanked him for it but I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you again Danny.
It means more to than you can know.
Joe I don't know how to make copies or I'd do it. There's be one in every room of my home...lol
Merry Christmas and God bless,Mudd

Nice photo Mudd. Every archer should have one in their man-cave.
Floyd was a good friend of my dads. He gave my dad a ink pen holder made out of a piece of a burch limb with an MBH sticker in the middle and a hole on the side for the ink pen.
I remember dad giving Floyd one of John Hauch experimental tube heads for Floyds collection which I believe belongs to Mr Phillips. I still have two of those heads.

Granite Stone etching of Bart and Paul by Ken Paulson

Brian, that deer hide quiver is SWEET! How did you tan it? and do you carry broadheads in it? If so how did you design the inside bottom?
-
Mike- I never get tired of seeing that etching. What a beautiful piece.

Im a taxidermist part time so I had it done at a tannery for one of my mounts. I do not carry broadheads in it yet but Im going to reinforce the inside of the bottom with tooling leather and then some quiver like foam. Thanks

Herdbull that etching is a real eye catcher, very nice.

Here are a few of the things I like in my man cave...
A piece of the exterior museum wall from the Fred Bear Museum.
A ceramic Authorized Dealer statue for Bear Archery.
A display of "kill arrows" that include autographed arrows from the Mitten brothers, and the Wensel brothers.
A couple of unique items made by Floyd Eccleston, a table lamp and a floor lamp with magazine rack. These are made from pieces of Bear bows that were factory rejects. I believe that typically these rejects were destroyed, perhaps by burning, but Floyd apparently occasionally got pieces from Fred for various projects.

Thought I would include a kind of crummy shot of my man cave. Not a great shot, but you get the general idea. Quivers and arrows hang all around the room, along with a couple of archery prints.
And, I don't know how "unique" these bow racks are, but I made them from discarded hickory cabinet door fronts. I just cleaned them up and added some supports for the bows. Kind of rustic and gets the job done.

Thanks again guys.

These man caves are somethin' else;
Cherokee Scout;
If I had a man cave like that, my wife would NEVER get anything out of me; thank you and to all others for sharing.
:campfire:
-
Cherokee Scout has definitely upped the "drool factor"...Outstanding! It's cool to see how each of us has their own way of creating a space to enjoy what we love, but yet each of us makes it our own. The same, but different. I love it!
-
Cherokee Scout.......that is like walking into a display at Cabela's! WOW!

Thanks Ray but the lamps were made by Floyd Eccleston. I picked them up a number of years ago. I got the table lamp from Floyd's son Rich I think, and the floor lamp from an elderly gentleman I met who had been a friend of Floyd's from way back. glad you enjoyed seeing them. I enjoy them.

Thanks for posting the pics Roy. A good friend builds the rocker and floor lamps, My wife actually won the rocker at our archery clubs, Gun and Bow Banquet (similar to a Ducks Unlimited Banquet.) He is a real craftsman! I built the stand for the turkey but my quality is nothing like his!
-
Wow! That rocker is fantastic. I gotta have one. floor lamp is gorgeous too. Any contact info for the builder of those items Snufer?
Thanks for posting the pics Mudd.
-
Nice one Les.
-
Hey Yukon Chuck, his name is Brian LeBeau, and his e-mail address is, [email protected] his phone # is 262-903-2593.
-
Hers a few of mine, its still got a ways to go, these were taken a few months ago, Ive got more of the trim done, and more pictures hung etc. Still have to get my reloading station finished, and then put a few coats of linseed oil on all the woodwork.
Im gonna build a new rack for my bows, make it look like a giant arrow.
I built all these cabinets last winter, a very fun project. The door and drawer pulls are antler burrs. Still have a few to put on.
This was my Dads woodworking bench. Not pictured is the reloading station, which is to the right of this bench.
Like any man cave, its a work in progress. I hope to put flooring in this winter,as well as running the cable for the TV dish so I can have a ballgame on in the evening while Im tinkering building arrows or reloading pistol ammo. Its a comforting room for me, I have my Dads bench, and many of his tools. His picture hangs on the all, and its just a quiet place I can retreat, and know hes there with me.
-
Thanks for the information Snufer. Much appreciated.
-
Out standing thread the pictures are fantastic....
-
I'll second that! Nice room Autumnarcher
-
We had our family Christmas today, since my wife has to work tommorrow. And wouldn't ya know it, I got a small refridgerator for the man cave! No more having to run upstairs for a refill, or more ice cubes.
-
Ttt...
-
Where you guys finding the cutouts of Fred Bear?
Thanx
-
Some really neat ideas, and craftsmanship. Great thread.
-
Any more??
-
These are a couple of my unique items.
The first is a picture of a lamp that I put together from parts of different lamps. The picture isn't the best, but the base is an antique brass floor lamp that has an arrow for the horizontal piece. The finial is an antler tip and the shade is similar to the ones shown previously with the bear.
This second one is a plaque that I made from an oak tree slab to commemorate a special hunt. Unfortunately the picture file size doesn't show the beauty of the burl oak. My brother and I took these 2 deer a day apart while hunting in oak trees only 20 yards apart. It was cool to be able to watch each other take the deer. These 2 bucks had been cruising together when I took the one on the left. It was the first deer I had taken with a recurve that my dad made me. My brother took the one on the right the following evening.
