Just wondering what everyones favourite broadhead is?? I have some woodsmen broadheads but I cant get them sharp, tried everything, hones, stones files ect. Looking for something new.
-
Simmons TigerShark175 grain..Nasty hole...excellent blood trail..Mike
-
For Me the 160Grn Snuffer I can shave hair off My arms/legs and face (when sober)
-
150gr. 2-blade Magnus Stinger.
Bill
-
Stingers and Phantoms come sharp, also easy to touch up after shot.
-
Magnus-1 Gets the job done.Leaves a trail to follow.
-
AlbertaHunter,
Check out Charlie Lamb's sharpening in the how to forum.
-
You might find two blade heads easier to sharpen. I fought three blade sharpening and finally gave it up. Even I can get a two blade sharp!
Have done well with Magnus and Ace.
-
Abowyer Brown Bear
-
snuffers all the way
-
Snuffers have always been a favorite but the Tree Shark is moving up fast, grievous entry and exit wounds, wide and short bloodtrails.
-
I killed a doe this year with a Muzzy Phantom. It worked well, blew right thru.
-
1964 Bear Razorheads. Have bougth them at Garage sales for a quarter, have shot 2 big bucks and a doe with the all dead quick. Lost one doe but not broadheads fault, poor hit. I use the bleeders. Had. 1 I killed all three deer with but lost it on a ridge in ohio this year, after it killed a 22 inch spread 8 pt dead. Love those old heads easy to sharpen.
-
Treesharks, without a doubt.
-
I'll take my VPA's!
-
German Kinetic Silverflame XL for me!
Bisch
-
Simmons Tigersharks.RC
-
VPA terminator/Woodsman elite!
-
VPA 175gr , took a while to get the sharpening technique down but now that I have it I have it.
-
Zwickey Deltas or VPA 175gr. terminators.
Have you tried a bastard file wide enough to lay 2 of the blades down on? Once I figured that out 3 blades were easy.
Rob

Ace Standards.

This sounds like a solid tip. I was wanting to try a belt sander with a fine grit going very slowly to avoid heating.
-
Tree Shark
-
My number head is a 165gr Bodkin 3 blade, number 2 is a 150 gr Snuffer. No lack of blood trails here.
-
200 grain Razorcap.
-
160 and 145 grain Ribteks.
-
So many BHs so little time. Lifetime favorite Snuffer 160s. Current Favorite Ace standard 160s.
-
I like the Woodsman Elites there solid. But I just got a pack of Eclipse Werewolf's from Blake in the mail tody. The are 150 grain single bevels and they are built tough. I think this will be my new elk broadhead.

This... :readit:

Zwickey Delta or left bevel Grizzlies. Both are cheap, easy to sharpen, fly great, and kill stuff really most sincerely dead.
-
Helix Single Bevel
-
I have killed 3 deer in the last 3 weeks with WW Elites so they are my current favorite. They sharpen easily for me, shoot good and left a lot of blood on the ground. Two of them were dead in less than 50 yards, the other one was a different story but that was my fault.
-
A good SHARP one. I use Magnus I's, Zwickey deltas, STOS 160, Ace 160. They all do a fantastic job when sharp
-
Simmons Interceptor. Fly great and Stevie Wonder type blood trails.
-
Grizzlies, fly great, cut great and I haven't bent one yet.
-
Bear Razorheads.
-
Depends on the game I am pursueing and the over-all arrow set-up and bow I plan to utilize.
-
woodsman, magnus 4 blade, keep wanting to try grizzlies but.....
-
I prefer Grizzly 160's!
-
I love them all!!
-
A well used..."experienced", Zwickey Delta is by far, my favorite.
:campfire:
-
VPA Terminators, 250 gr. is my current favorite. The Simmons heads have my interest, but so far my experiences with the VPAs have given me no reason to change.
-
Like many of you, I have used all kinds of different broadheads through the years.
In fact, I use different broadheads for various bow and arrow setups and/or species of animals.
I still like experimenting, and they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Besides, everyone is different, but if I had to choose one only, all things considered, today, it would be... the 160 grain Snuffer.
-
really have become a fan of Grizzly's. I hope Bill gets them back on the market soon. Like the 190gr. heads.
-
160 grain snuffers. Is there any other kind?
-
VPA for sure. They are the toughest head I have ever shot and I have used a lot of different ones. I like the Terminators but I killed a nice Mule Deer doe with a Penetrator on this years elk hunt and it worked great! I just prefer the holes the 3 blade leaves.
-
Brunett, blonde, redhead? Ale, lager, stout? Ace, Eclipse, Bear? Yes please.
-
a bowyer brown bear
-
STOS 145 and 160 grains.
-
Simmons interceptor
-
Used a bunch but no doubt Magnus Stinger 4 blade 125 grain.
-
I shoot a 145 Snuffer, big holes...looking to try out a VPA next!
-
160 grain STOS.
-
Abowyer Wapiti! Get them KME scary sharp, fly like darts, cut through critters like they were butter.
-
RAZORCAPS this year. Tough head fly like field points and wiked sharp and they STAY that way. BILL
-
Snuffer also very fond of 220gr Muzzy phantom
-
Zwickey Eskimo. Reasonable price and they have never failed to perform.
-
Zwickey-Deltas, They have been at the top of my list for all most 50 years. Don't fix what aint broke
-
One thing I'm pretty good at is getting a very sharp edge on a broadhead. I use the 125gr Eskimo, but having said that the old "Greenhead" is probably the easiest I've ever dealt with.
-
Top three :archer2:
Bear Razorhead
Zwickey Delta
Magnus Stinger
-
Silver Flames
Can pick them up used at a reasonable price, pretty pricey new.
-
I used to be a diehard Zwickey 2 blade Delta fan (I still believe they're a great head). I think 2 blade Grizzly's are very good too. That said, I'm going to be hard pressed to change from the Kustom King Trailmaker's. I've got them on my cedar shafts right now and they are solid, sharpen well and fly true. The blood trails are absolutely incredible.
-
Magnus or ACE Standard.
-
Just about anything that has two blades and is SHARP!
-
I really love the Eclipse heads. They are designed to be a tough head. When sharpened they stay sharp. They fly great when mounted on an arrow too.
-
160 SNUFFER
-
Ace or STOS.
-
N.A.P. Razorcaps for me, very adjustable as far a weight go's,ready to hunt sharp and don't rust
-
Wensel Woodsman Elites (or VPA, pretty much the same). They are a significant improvement over the originals. With the older heads I spent a lot of time with a file to get the edges true.
-
Anything Zwickey!!!
-
STOS.but the Simmons broadheads are starting to perk my interest.
-
STOS and Snuffer 160's
-
My favorite is any with blood on it.

weight don't know, model old spatula.
-
Woodsman!
-
Abowyer Brown Bear's
-
Woodsman elite & VPA's and then STOS 160 grain.
-
These, left and right wing.

Magnus and been good to me. I got some woodsmans the other day and I can get them sharper then anything else I have tried. Like seriously sharp! The hair jumps off me when I test them. Now I just need a critter to try them on....
-
ACE Standard - 125gr or 160gr depending on setup
-
It used to be Magnus till they wanted me to pay shipping to send back a head that was of poor quality. It had a ΒΌ inch divot in the cutting edge that was messed up from the factory.
-
160 Snuffer!!!!!!!!!!!! Big holes.
-
I designed the Phoenix for just this reason. With a single bevel the head has a sharper ground angle than a conventional three blade head. Combine that with the awesome quality of construction you get from Jeff at VPA and you might have a head that will work you. Easy to shapen, tough and flies great.
-
Magnus Journeyman.
-
For turkeys, I lean on the Big Jim Big 3 300 gn heads and the big snuffer.
-
My current flavor is a 200gr. VPA terminator. Easiest head to touch up of any I've ever had. Time will tell if it stays at the top of the list?
-
My favorite are Razorcaps...but I just got some VPA's and very anxious to try them.
-
simmons tigersharks i like great penetration and lots of blood on the ground
-
I prefer the now "out of production" VPA 250 gn x 1 1/4"dia. screw-in 3 blade Terminators on my carbons... [they are now 1 1/8" dia] Luckily I secured about 2 dozen while they were last available. :goldtooth:
For woodies it's 160gn S/B Grizleys.
Gene
-
Stingers and VPA's

Gene,
We still make the 1-1/4" 200gr glue-on and 250gr screw-in. Just in limited runs.
-
I like Snuffers to-date but hear that there are some even better heads available now...like the Woodsman I guess....dunno....have not taken a deer yet with my Snuffers so I really can't say how I feel about them - yet!
-
My favorite is called a Butterfield Brute, and of course, they aren't made any longer. Wouldn't mind getting another dozen for future hunts.
ChuckC
-
150 magnus stinger
-
VPA's/Woodsman Elites when I use a 3 blade, and STOS for when I use a 2 blade.
Lot's of good ones out there, just a matter of personal choice.
-
VPA's
-
Treeshark for me, big holes and great penetration.
Just ask the guy from Georgia who has killed 10 deer this year using one.
-
Magnus 125grn Stingers for me!!
-
magnus and black diamonds sharpened via KME system...
-

Muzzy phantoms, but I sure like the looks of the Simmons Land & Tree Sharks!
Jason
