I received a request to build some of these as part of a trade. I love making them just because they are fun and kind of unique. They are tail tapered down to 5/16" which exposes the natural wood gradually. Just another option, from many, when ordering custom arrows from me.

Those are SWEET !!
How long is the taper and from what to 5/16..???

They look very nice, David.
I have two dozen of those shafts waiting on me to get after them. I had talked with Nate about doing the same treatment to mine, several months ago. I like the idea. I might possibly foot them if I can ever find some time :banghead:

Good looking work David!
I have to tell you guys that I have had David do his master work on many arrows for me, and he does a tremendous good job.

Those are sweet. Great looking arrows. I can't wait to get my longbow so I can order some Surewood shaft arrows.
-
Very nice work David. Classy traditional look. Anyone would be proud to own these.
-
Very nice arrows. I really appreciate the workmanship!

Thanks guys. It is a pleasure to build arrows...can't get enough of it! haha These are 11/32" with a 10" tail taper down to 5/16". I have found barrel tapering to my liking also. I took some old ACME's that were 23/64". I put a front taper down to 11/32" and then a tail taper down to 5/16". I found that if you tune these to your draw length and bow you can get arrow flight as good as any shaft material.

I agree barrel tapered shafts fly the best especially out of heavy bows at least for me, I didn't know you were doing your
Own taper work, excellent. Se ya

  :clapper: Outstanding!

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Al, I have a jig set up that is attached to a sander. I can fine tune the taper with it. The shafts go in while be spun for an even taper. Works great.
-
david, you sure are coming along with those arrows..honestly,i think your work in making arrows reminds me of the days of chester and the time frame of classic bowhunting..its really great to see some one keeping up this part of oregon history...BLESSINGS...john
