WOW, Bill I love the looks of the Zipstick!!! You are sure making it hard on my bank account....LOL

Is the grip close to the SXT? Also what will the lengths that it will be offered in?

Jake is right, you are a busy man!
Keep up the good work!!!

Length? When it is all said and done the plan is to offer this bow from 54"-64".As of now I can build it from 54"-60"

Grip? This bow is glued up in such a way that I can put nearly any grip on it without making changes to the form.  It takes a little longer to build this way but it allows a lot of flexibility  to customize the grip area.  The standard grip will be very much like our SXT.

It was a bit of a challenge to build a 1 piece longbow that still looks like a Zipper bow.I think we have managed to keep the Zipper look.

This one is bloodwood and curly maple 58"46#@28. I will have a 56" 58" and 60" at Kzoo for folks to shoot.

Pierre,
I believe that one just has foam cores, and no carbon.

Excellent Bill! Interested also in the core material, brace height, and the string material. What kind of options will be available? Looking forward to shooting it on Saturday!

Benjy, Bill should build us a pair of identical bows, then host a shoot off between the two of us, with the winner getting a free bow. I have a practice arrow you could use  :bigsmyl:  Really looking forward to shooting it and discussing it with Bill and Tracy next weekend. Does the foam core run all the way throught the middle of the riser or is that an accent stripe of something else?

Bill, 58", 46# @ 28" is perfect for me. If you want to send that bow to me I will run a bunch of arrows thru it and give you my opinion. I would even be willing to drive to your shop and pick it up! Man, that looks good.

Are you coming to the Tradfest again this year to shoot?
If so bring one of them along I would love to fling some out of it.

Yea this one has foam cores with semi clear glass.    No need to use the best stuff for a prototype.

Sorry Mark no lefties in the house. I know I'm gonna catch alot of guff over it but there just is not enough time to get some built before Kzoo.

This one seems to like that near 8" brace height.

All the typical Zipper options will be available on the Zipstick.

We are planning to be at the Tradfest shoot again this year. Looking forward to it!

RM81 and fishone maybe you guys could get down to shoot at the same time.

The strange looking stripe in the center of the riser section is foam core material, veneer, and the belly glass. Running the glass through the riser makes the riser VERY stiff it also allows me to put nearly any grip that someone may want on the bow.

Izzy
Ohio deer season goes out on Feb. 5. and I just happen to have an unused tag in my pocket.I hope to get to put it on a nice fat slick head after Kzoo.

Post by: owlbait on January 18, 2012, 08:08:00 PM
Bill does that mean the stripe on every bow will be gray? Isn't that the only color of the foam or can it be covered with a veneer?

Bill the bow is beautiful cant wait to shoot it at Kazoo..
Title: Re: Zipstick prototype pictures
Post by: zipper bowss on January 18, 2012, 08:32:00 PM
If it has foam in the core it will be grey.
I guess I could put both pieces of core material on the back side of the main piece of riser wood. Instead of one on the back and one on the belly.

My wife just sat down next to me while I was looking at the pics, looked at me, and her first words were, "don't even think about it."

It's like they can read our minds.  I thought I was playing it pretty coy.

The limbs and limb angle are the Nitro. The riser section is different.Because this one is a one piece and that limits my riser shape the Zipstick has about an inch higher brace height than the Nitro does.

She is on to you Jarrett!   :biglaugh:

Sorry Robhood, but we will not be at the Waterloo show.

Will we see you at the Baltimore Bowmen shoot, Jim?

Bill,
I'd love to try out a 56".  I was just down in Mt. Orab last weekend still chasing that big buck I missed back in November.  Got to within about 50 yards on Saturday, but couldn't close the deal.  Let me know when you're available and I'll head back downt that way.  I've been looking around for a 56" longbow and would love to try one of yours.  I'm hoping to get down there another weekend before deer season closes to give that buck one more try.

Hey Matt, the best way to do it would be to contact me when you are going to be down this way and I'll try to be available.

The 58"er will handle a 29" draw length with no problem.

Jwilliam is right the price for the Zipstick with curved riser laminations similar to the prototype will be $700. That will be using our base woods of Curly Maple and Bubinga along with your choice of stripes.
I am also considering offering one with just one wood and no accents for $650.
