I have 32 days to get ready for my first shoot without the wheel's. This shoot has shot's from am elevated position at 60 yards. I practice at 30 in my back yard and I'm a ground hunter. That's the longest shot I will will take in the woods. Ethics and all. So I need to hit the rang for the next 3 weeks so I can adjust to the longer shots. The last time I did a shoot was with my Matthew's. I took 6th place out of 200 shooters in my division. If I remember right there was only 6 traditional shooters out of the bunch. Starting my new training tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Good luck and its not if you win or loose it how much fun you have playing the game!
-
very well put Jon

You'll never have so much fun missing a 3D target.
-
totally different mind set from trad to wheels. good luck
-
I would not feel as I had to shoot those 60yd targets.
Dont they set up stakes for the traditional guys and gals?
Maybe you can hook up with the other trad shooters and pick your own shots.
-
have a blast!! i cant wait till our first shoot next month..
-
The max yardage at the shoots around here is 35 yards for the traditional stake.
-
60 yards sounds very far. The max yardage for the traditional stake at our shoots is 25 yards.

Yep, average is 20 yards (or 15-18 yards with junk in front) for us .... just like hunting. Usually have a couple in the 32-35 yard range. Usually a wolf or something VERY challenging for one, I'd say at least half score 0 or 5.

Good luck and long practice can only help with the closer stuff!
-
Sure sounds like a shoot catered to compound bows, no matter the score, you'll have more fun....except for the waiting. Just kidding, have fun and practice what "you" shoot.

Have a good time and enjoy, its a great process. Good Luck.

Hold high and let it fly, and most of all HAVE FUN!!!
That is why I became a trad bowhunter, so that archery could be fun again, and fun it is
-
We have 60 yarders in the east but the targets are generally large type animals, moose, elk, bison, caribou, etc.
Just figure your point on distance and aim a little higher.

Dude, If there are only six other shooters this time you will place at least 7th! :archer2:
Have fun, establish a baseline, and compete to better yourself. Don't worry about the other guys.

I have a nice plaque from my first 3d tourney, 1st place. Would have been in trouble if anyone else showed up with a trad bow
I had a blast even shooting with some wheelie guys, I'll be shooting more this spring and summer.

Shot trad prior to invention of the wheels, 2D and 3D. Oh yes, I still miss quite often.
3D's are a thrill for me. The more trad has become a part of me, the less other distractions have an opportunity to intervene.
