All right!!! Reservations confirmed, plane tickets booked, new osage takedown longbow almost completed, new Wiggys sleeping bag arrived, broadheads sharpened, menus planned! Bud Kent, Malcolm Parker, Joe Walsh and myself will be joining the Texas duo Sam and Felix on a spring hunt the first week of June....Talk about excited!

Awesome. I was going to try to go on a hunt in may/june, but I decided to go on and get some classes out of the way to graduate in the fall. Good luck. And make sure you get some practice in.

We'll be hunting the Clearwater National Forest near Kamiah...I'm trying to decide what gear...the weather is 80 high and 45 low historically but I know that the mountains can get cold and wet pretty fast so planning on cold weather gear and some lighter stuff too...

That's practically in my back yard. It's only about 45 minutes away. You'll have a great time and the rivers and mountains are absolutely beautiful! Depending on where they take you from Kamiah, you can end up in some extremely rugged country. Take lots of pictures so we can all enjoy.

Beautiful country!!! I have hunted bear with Weitas Creek out of Kamiah for several years. Have fun and enjoy the scenery.

Best of luck..
Don't forget the stories and pics. :nono:
We will be waiting :)

We're hunting with Ridgerunner Outfitters out of Kamiah. Sam and Felix did good with them last year and Joe put us all together. I think that we'll be in the Skull Creek drainage of the North Fork of the Clearwater. I'm bringing both my digital and some disposable cameras so the pics should be plentiful! Hoping to do a little flyfishing too....if the bears cooperate early in the hunt

Sounds like you might be a little bit excited!!
I'm not even going and I'm excited for you.
Good luck

Be sure and bring some big stimulators and lots of elk hair caddis or humpies...Skull creek in places has some tremendous cutthroat fishing in some beautiful pocketwater...big cutties. I know the area well, absolutely beautiful country!

Best of luck on your bear hunt. My brother and our wives hunted in that area four years ago, we saw a number of bears including one that walked right into camp one morning. We had a great time and are looking to return next June.

Sounds like a place i'd like to visit sometime.wish you the best.

Get in shape. Really. The altitude can kick lowlanders butts. Getting in shape helps overcome the lag and can make the first days more enjoyable
