I have made a couple so far for a couple of my longbows. It is very small diameter, very little stretch.I made them a 12 strand with padded loops for my 50# Shrew Model T longbow. It is fast, quiet and holding up great.A 12 strand 8190 is about the same diameter as a 8 strand D97 and 6 strand 450+.I also made a 12 strand 8190 for my 57# Shawnee,it is working great also.So far I like it very well, small diameter per strand and strong with very little stretch. It's still new to me and I plan on making some more strings for my other bows.Plus I like that it is available in 1/8# spools,I can get two colors for about the price of a 1/4# spool of a single color.

LBR (Chad Weaver of Champion Custom Bowstrings)

Was doing some testing a while back.
I think he may have made up a few for some guys to hear what they thought of it.

Not sure if he is using it yet for strings commercially.

I don't have it on my site yet (have to catch my web guy when he has time to fix that for me), but I have it in 8 colors and have been tinkering with it since it came out earlier this year.  I also sent out several strings for others to try out.

All the reports I got back have been positive, and I like the material myself.

It's great for "skinny" string fans--you can get a tiny diameter string without sacrificing strand count.  It's very durable, with very low stretch and creep.

8190 is made from SK90 Dyneema--the strongest available.  As a comparison, original Fast Flight was SK65, Dynaflight '97 and 8125 are SK75, Dynaflight '10 was SK78.  The 8190 also incorporates a small amount of GORE fiber which acts like an internal lubricant, making it even more durable.

On most longbows it's very quiet, even without silencers.  Not as quiet on recurves (no surprise there), but with a little tuning and proper silencer placement it's great.

It's a very small diameter material--12 strands is about the same diameter as 9 strands of 8125, or about 6-7 strands of Dynaflight '97.

Although the material itself is stronger, with the tiny diameter strand the breaking strength per strand is approximately 68# (static load, not shock load).  For now at least, I'm recommending 12-16 strands in the string with 20-22 in the loops.

Chad,
Are you using B-50 to pad the loops on these strings? Thank you.

I'm using BCY's B-55, but it's still dacron.  B-50 would work just fine for padding.

I used B50 to pad the loops on the 8190 I've made,I added 4 strands per bundle on my 12 strand 8190 strings.
