Been gone for some time and now I'm back and been roaming the site. What is your preference, a shooting glove or a shooting tab?
-
I've tried both, but am sticking with a Cordovan tab. Works for me.
-
Cordovan tab for me also. Used to use glove but tabs for several years no regrets.
-
Cavalier tabs
-
Saunders Pak Tab for me. Very slick, impervious to water, and broke in out of the box. You can't get any better than that!

I've heard many shooters say their accuracy improved switching from glove to tab but have not heard anyone say they were more accurate with glove. Still some prefer glove. I switched to tab and haven't looked back... yet.
-
I use a glove now. But plan on trying a tab soon.

Yes sir... They're coming out with a 3 under tab the beginning of next year.

I will try a tab now and then but can never get the hang of them.
I learned with a glove so I am sticking with what I know.
A tab always seemed like a target shooters thing using a recurve bow whereas the glove seems more suited to hunting with a longbow.

Love the Glove ;)

Tried both and always return to a Duraglove.

I started with a glove and switched to a glove and will never go back.

Me too.

It can get cold here in northen Wisconsin during the hunting season. I like to wear a jersay glove on my tab hand to help keep my fingers warm. My fingers stay much warmer compared to wearing a winter glove with cut off fingers and then a shooting glove. The cold leather of a shooting glove next to your finger tips does not make for an enjoyable hunt. I use Bates cordovan tab because I like cordovan leather and the elastic bands that hold the tab to the fingers. The elastic band is adjustable for when you wear a winter glove (jersay) on your hand.

Have tried both. I always seem to get a better release with a tab but seem to get a more repeatable anchor with a glove??? Right now I am using the glove.

This is interesting as I do the opposite. I have shot both a glove and a tab and I always go back to the glove. For the cold, I either wear a hand warmer (muff) and a loose fitting jersey glove over my shooting glove. When the moment of truth comes, I just simply remove the jersey glove to shoot when in the stand. If I am on a spot & stalk in the cold, I just wear the hand warmer (muff).

I did a post quite a while back on this tab vs glove question. I'll see if I can find it.
-
Okay, here it is. Don't know if it will help you or not but it might.

I have tried a tab, but I don't like them because I am having to chase it around and fix it or whatever. I like my glove cause I can put it on and not mess with it.
-
Just like Drewster

I changed to a tab in the 1980's. It just seems to be much more convenient. This is especially true in cold weather as I can wear a fleece glove for warmth (that is all that is usually needed in the middle GA winter)under my tab with no problem.
-
I've tried both and so far my personal favorite is the big shot glove.
-
Great input! Thanks!

I used a tab back in my c-bow days, but when I tried it with my recurve, it would fly off every shot. So, I switched to a Damascus glove. I don't worry about dropping it, it fits fine and works great. In the cold, I use wool gloves with three fingers cut off and put it on over my shooting glove.

I've shot a glove for nearly 50 years. During that time, I could never find a tab that felt comfortable. Finally did, a Black Widow calf hair split finger. I like shooting with it in nice weather on the range. Don't think I'm any more accurate with it than a glove, but I do seem to be able to get my fingers a little closer to the side of my face with it, feel my anchor a little better with the tips of my fingers, etc.
For hunting, though, I'll use a glove. It always takes me a little time, maybe only a second or two, to properly place the tab on the string around the nock. It has three layers of material and small flaps that protect the two fingers that touch the arrow. I often have to look at what I'm doing. With a glove, there are no "moving parts." I can look at the target and and position my fingers for the shot by feel. As G. Fred has written, "Things have a way of happening very quickly in the woods." A second or two can make the difference between getting a shot and not.
In cold weather, I wear a wool glove with the fingers cut off to fit over my leather shooting glove so only the stalls protrude. Keep my hands in a muff until I'm ready to shoot.

Started out with a glove 48 years ago. Switched to a tab and have been shooting a tab for the last 47 1/2 years.
The tab gives me a cleaner release.

im not a fan of feeling the string so i use a thick black widow tab i dont like feeling the string, its heavy and thin and hurts haha
