For the guys who have hunted here, I went to the North place, to check the wind currents on a new ladder stand I put up. Just west of the rock crossing...
Sorry for the poor pics, kinda dingy and autofocus camera!
Got in before light, NW wind at 10 - 12 mph, almost sunup, he appeared...

Got about as much out of tskin his pic as takin him. :bigsmyl:

-
Great morning! I too get as much or more satisfaction in letting them walk knowing I could have easily taken them if I wanted too!
-
You guys must see to many deer........That would be a fantastic trophy where I hunt......with a gun or a bow!
-
Your the man Kenny, I don't have that much dicipline.
-
awesome Kenny!
I think Charlie is in KS.
-
Yep Charlie is sitting in his favorite chair in one of our blinds. He's kind of wore out from a busy morning.

Sweet , Tracy!! Gonna have the story this month?
He just didn't set off my green light, so just as well let him grow.

Nobody tells a story quite like Charlie :bigsmyl:
Plenty of time left Kenny, got to go with your gut! Looking forward to getting to your place in October.

Sweet looking buck!

Great pictures. Maybe next year??
-
I'd have probably been okay until your "8 yard shot" pic, that woulda been too much, sharpened steel would be flying.
Thanks for sharing Kenny!
-
He will be good next year, heck, he's good this year, just wasn't his day... :)
-
Great pics and your right, next year he will be ripe.
-
Tim, here is where he came close to gettin one..... :saywhat:

Anybody else notice how much bigger he looked out in the beans? Probably the reason for ground shrinkage....
-
I'm biting!!!! :bigsmyl:
-
Great pics. Kenny. Very nice buck.
Today was My first day off other than Labor day since July the 8th. I think I would have been tempted with that 8 yard broadside offering.
I've got to get out and find a food source around here today. Our beans are turning quick down here.

Terry, he'll be waitin for ya! He's not the big one tho, there are at least 2 others in that spot that will quicken the pulse!!
Had I sat 10 more minutes, I coulda shot a coyote, at him anyways... :D
Brett, the beans in that field that he was eating are turning on the hill by the road this morning after last nites cool temp. Didn't notice it yesterday. White oaks are dropping acorns already.
-
Great pics of a definit up and comer!!!
-
Kenny. I just finished counting my arrows to make sure I have enough for Nov. If he comes by me he's at least gonna get a little education :biglaugh:
-
Darrell, lets see.. 2 deer, 2 turkey on the regular archery tag , and all the doe tags you wanna buy, plus plenty coyotes.... Bring a LOT of arras! :bigsmyl:
-
Kenny,
Looks like the local talent is doing just fine. I have a feeling they won't be getting that lucky in a few weeks.
As mentioned, I've been up to my neck in deer hunting with that Potter fella. Shinin times for sure.
Though the big boys gave us the slip for now, we'll be after them again in November. But first we've got a much anticipated trip up your way and the subject came up many times over the past week.
In the mean time we took out our frustrations and blood lust on a couple of meat deer. But that's for a different thread.
-
Good start Charlie!! Look forward to seein you all!! :wavey:
-
Kenny,
I could not have just "looked" at him either. And I won't! HaHa. I may miss but I will be flingin an arra. He looked like he didn't have a care in the world.
I'll make sure and bring my file to resharpen ole Darrells broadheads.
You need to aske him bout my hoe handle.
-
Thats cool Kenny. I finally got relocated up here in Missouri after trying for two years. We really like it up here. Blessings!
-
David, I hope you can take him or one of the bigger ones home with you!!
I'll ask Darrell when he gets here, I have a feeling it will be better story in person!! :D
What part of MO are you in Keith? I'm 50 miles from IA right in center East to West...
-
I will admit it....I would have shot. Nice buck!
-
Dan, some days I would too.
Seems like if they are bulked up with a big neck and I rattle or grunt em in,and they come huffing in ready to kick butt, they are in more danger than in early season.
Call me crazy, but its how I work... :)
