Hey everyone, I've been bitten by the archery bug. I've always hunted with a rifle or used a shotgun for birds. I had always wanted to get into bowhunting but just never had. Anyhow, I bought a Diamondback venom longbow and can't stop shooting it. I've never had any real desire to shoot a compound and so far haven't. Just doesn't seem right to me, for me personally. Well, I've come to notice that traditional bow hunters are a small group. I'm somewhat new to Fargo, ND and have found two different archery clubs. Sandhills archers and Lake Agassiz Bowmen. I was wondering if anyone out here knew anything of either one. I'd like to eventually join both for the options of being able to shoot at both ranges but I'd like to start out with the club that has the most traditional shooters. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appriciated. I can tell now I will be asking ALOT of questions! Thanks in advance.

Hey, welcome to the Gang. Good folks, lots of wisdom, and overall superb atmosphere. Fargo, sorry, nothing to offer there friend.
-
Thanks for the warm welcomes guys. Homebru, I gotta say I'm a little jealous, the first time I moved to the lower 48 I lived in Castle Rock for a few years. I'm sure the area is still growing like crazy. Eastern North Dakota is lacking pretty much any type of elevated terrain! Anyways, thanks again guys and Far rider, I gotta say you're spot on. After reading several posts on different topics, this site is packed with wisdom and insight as well as a friendly atmospher. I'm sure I'll be hitting you guys up for advice and tips at some point.

I am currently living in Fargo right now but moving in 4 days. I have started back into archery a few months ago and was thinking about joining the sandhills archery club before I found out I am transferring for my job. It looks like a nice facility with 24/7 access to both indoor and outdoor range. I have checked out there site some and looks like a good place to go shoot and meet other trad shooters.

Thanks Aaron. I've scoped out their site too. And the word on the street from a few guys I've met around here is that Sandhills does have a lot more trad shooters than the other club. And Tuesday nights they have a trad only class for league shooting. Not sure if I'm skilled enough to compete yet but what the heck? Why not? Might as well jump in. Sink or swim. And I'd bet it would be a good place to get advice, tips ect. Thanks again and good luck with the transfer. And thanks everyone else for the welcomes

The sandhills archery club has a few really deticated traditional bowhunters. They are really nice guys as well. Paul Sperel, Tony Turner, Gary Simonson and Odin Henderson all come to mind. Of course, everyone is hunting this time of year, but I wouldn't hesitate to call any one of them. Chad

Welcome from Illinois.

Thanks! I figured most would be hunting. I thought it best to give myself and the deer a year or so of practice before I try. But I'm ready to practice on some bunnies. It will be a but before I have the $135 for a membership. Thanks for the tips. I will get out there and introduce myself ASAP.
