I'm looking for a quiver for my Whip. The bow is very light...which I prefer, but any sizable quiver throws me off balance and causes some string slap. I'm looking for a very light quiver, and one that hugs close to the bow. I'd like it to hold 4 arrows ideally, but I realize I may be stuck with a 2 or 3 arrow option.
Opinions?

EFA!

Great Northern is actually a pretty light quiver, five arrow too!

X2!!!

I should have clarified.....I've been shooting with a Big Jim Medium quiver and also a Great Northern longbow quiver. Both are excellent quivers, but too big for this bow (in my opinion)

EFA

Again, EFA

EFA is about the smallest, lightest available. They make a 3 arrow I believe. Excellent quivers and they come in several sizes. If you're shootin for featherweight, don't opt for the "wing" setback bracket. While handy, it adds a good amount of heft to the package. I have one on my Kanati and its solid. Good folks there too.
-
I liked your setup with the big jim... so much I put one on my whip. Give the big jim small and smaller grabber a try or go with whatever that flat leather one is.

Why not go with a back or hip quiver?

I do have a Mikes Archery Leather back quiver. Beauty of a quiver, and I've used it in the past. I would prefer the convenience of a bow quiver going forward.
-
Jeff - I've been using one of the Mini Boa 4 arrow strap on quivers. Used it on my Whip when I had it. Nice solid quiver.
-
EFA x whatever
-
Mike,
I have an EFA Totem with the Wingback that works great on my Whip. With that said, I don't use the Whip for hunting and have no real need for the quiver, which is why it is currently for sale and listed in the classifieds.
-
EFA, again.

EFA, I love it.

Thanks guys.
I bought an EFA 3 arrow mini. It'll be here Thursday...in time to practice with it for this weekend's hunt.

Great Northern

A buddy of mine had the same decision to make with his Whip. He went with an EFA and is very happy.
-
Same situation here -- I have a Whip and was using Big Jim's medium size quiver but -- even with only 3 arrows -- it was causing torque whenever I'd shoot and I was missing shots. (Great quiver, though, just too heavy for my needs.)
Strongly considered a side quiver, but I decided to give the EFA 3-arrow quiver a shot before abandoning the idea of a bow quiver on my longbow.
The EFA is very light and doesn't affect my shot. Have been on a few hunting trips so far this year with it and have been very pleased.
-
This two blade two arrow quiver and the GNBQ are the lightest I've used.

That's good to hear

cant get any lighter than "no quiver" just stick a couple extra arrows in your bow hand like those african tribesmen do :D haha

I got my EFA 3 arrow mini today. Two small complaints and they're minor...3Rivers lists it at 3.7 oz. It weighs right at 5 oz. on my scale. I know that doesn't seem like much, but I was surprised. Second, I wish I'd gotten black instead of the brown...the brown is a funky dark color that might as well be black.
Other than that, I really like the functionality of it. I will be hunting with it this weekend to further test it. It is still light enough and balanced enough that I shoot my bow well without any of the problems I was previously having. I spoke with Don on the phone Tuesday morning...he was kind enough to ship it priority so that I received it in two days. Can't beat that kinda service.
I would buy another quiver from them in a heartbeat.

I made this one for my Hoyt Excel. I used two of the Black Widow "Ace in the Hole" leather broadhead cover and clips. The brackets are made of very thin light weight aluminum.

TxAg, that's interesting about the weight of the EFA mini quiver. They usually weigh between about 3.2 and 3.7 oz. I'll make it a point to weigh some soon to see if something has changed and come back on with that info later. The brown color that you mentioned was selected because it is a neutral brown that goes well with most bows.
Good luck on that hunting trip.
-
Always good to get info from the manufacturer. I'm interested in what you find, but I also want to let you know I'm happy with the product. Thanks again.
-
TsAg,
I weighed two of the 3 arrow minis this afternoon and they were about 4.4 oz. each, which surprised me. We have made a few upgrades but I was not aware of anything that would add an ounce to it.
-
I am looking for a quiver too. I think I am sold on the EFA quiver. But, I have a few question for those with EFA quivers. On the reviews on 3 Rivers, there were complaints of the quiver slipping and the leather being poor quality. What are current owners thoughts on this?

I've been using my brand new one all weeknd and it hasn't slipped. Dn't see how it would if it is installed snuggly.
As for the leather, seems fine to me.

I just purchased a whip and now I am in the market for a quiver as well. Does anybody have the 4 arrow maxi or do you all recommend the 3 arrow mini for the whips. Just thought an extra arrow would be nice.
-
Well you guys talked me into one too! I oredered the 3 arrow mini limb bolt design to experiment with on one of my recurves. My wife may start to not like you guys as this isn't the first time someone else made a post and I made a purchase. :)

Big Jim's bow quiver.

If you get the 4, let me know how you like it. I don't "need" an extra arrow, but it couldn't hurt....maybe a blunt or something.
-
Does the EFA quiver leave any black marks on your light colored limbs? I have a great northern quiver but it leaves black marks on my limbs.

Here you go guys, I have 2 of the 3 arrow model and 1 of the 4 arrow models.

This is the 3 arrow with Magnus and Zwickeys in it. I didn't even try putting my Centaurs in the 3 arrow model.

Nope. I have light colored myrtle limbs and had the quiver strapped on tight all weekend. Took the quiver off today and you couldn't tell it had ever been there.
-
Thanks for the Pics Brad thats exactly what I needed to see. Think i'll be ordering the 4 arrow.
-
As to the 3 rivers reviews about the EFA quiver slipping and the poor quality leather. When I mount my quiver I use a paper towel and isopropal alcohol and clean the limbs and the inside of the mounting brackets. I then tighten the straps good and the quiver has never moved. As for the quality of the leather, I am on my 3rd season with mine and it still looks new, seems fine to me. I would not hesitate to purchase another one or recomend them to anyone.
-
I have had one in use since at least 2005, not a single quality issue with it.
-
I have owned two and both have exceeded my excpectations. When strapped to the limb, they have NEVER slipped on any of my bows.
-
I also have a 3 arrow quiver ( for about 2 yrs. now) and has a rock solid mounting system! I recently ordered a 4 arrow model for another bow. this time i ordered direct from EFA , VERY NICE PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH. :goldtooth:
-
I ordered mine online direct from EFA over the weekend and I've already received my shipping confirmation! Doesn't get any better than that.
-
EFA is the lightest thing that holds 4 arrow I've ever seen. Ol' Don makes a dandy quiver.
Eric
-
Someone asked about the weight of a 4 arrow quiver. The 4 arrow Maxi and Cherokee standard size quivers weigh about 4.8 - 5.0 oz. That's lightweight enough to have almost no effect on how the bow shoots.
Oh yes, thanks for the nice things that many of you have said about us and our EFA products. We look constantly to improve our products, and our guidance comes from you.
-
Don,
Sent you an email yesterday. it is about time for you to design a quick detach model for us guys who like to remove our quiver when we get to our treestand...just a thought.
Thanks for the great quivers that you create.
Rick
-
They detach in about 3 seconds as is. I don't know how much quicker you want.
-
You are correct in some respect, but then attaching back with the velcro is not my preference and a little more difficult than a quick detach/attach system.
-
Rick,we have dedicated much time toward a quick detach system but might do so in the future. We haven't had many guys ask for it because the quiver is already pretty fast to install or remove. Besides we are busy looking for ways to improve our products and bring new ones to the market.
Just as a teaser, we should have a new concept quiver ready to show before the end of the year. It's one that I'm really excited about but can't talk about yet. Shhhhhhh.

Don,
I weighed mine again today. It read 4.4 oz 3 out of the 4 times I weighed it. As I mentioned earlier, I had previously weighed it and gotten 5.0 oz.....guess my scale was out of wack that day.
I feel better now that your scale and my scale are reading the same.
-
Thanks for the reply Don and I am sure we are all looking forward t o your ...."shhhhhhh"

2fletch, got my 3 arrow mini today and am very pleased. When I first took the package out of my mailbox and saw the name on it I was trying to figure out how it could be a quiver. I replaced the 20yr old + compound limb bolt quiver off my Brack Drifter and replaced it with the 3 arrow limb bolt. I'd had the other one on since the bow was new but the black plastic 8 arrow quiver never looked right. I haven't shot with it on yet but I'm sure it will be great. Thanks 2fletch and even though this wasn't my post thanks to the rest of you that turned me on to these quivers. I have another riser being built by wes so I'll be ordering another one soon!
