Title: Traditional journey
Post by: coaster500 on October 27, 2012, 10:23:00 PM
Been a few years now since I started using traditional equipment. I've learned a tremendous amount and met a bunch of great folks. I have learned to build bows and particapated in the bow swap on the bowyers bench. I was gifted with a great bow. I built a selfbow and was built a very nice 3pc curve by Mike Tenley / Brushwolf... I don't own a bow that I can't hunt so Mikes bow went out today so it could sit proudly with its brethren in the rack....  about an hour and a half in the stand and this brute came in...  all 11 points with double brow tines and a bad attitude. He gave me a shot quartering to me a bit. I hugged the shoulder and watched as my arrow went where I looked. The buck ran about 20 yards tripped got up ran another 20 and expired. When I dressed the deer the top of his heart and both lungs were hit. I thought it might be OK to share this story with you all.

Thanks guys...

I'm hunting on a farm in Missouri. This is the first time I've hunted in the midwest. I bought this hunt to benefit Whitetails Unlimited. I am the only Traditional shooter here and so far this is the only buck taken. I still have a doe and turkey tag to fill and another four days to hunt so the game continues   :)

Been said, but that's a super nice buck, and you tell a good story Kip.
On another note. My first bow when I returned to traditional some years ago had what looks like the same wood combos. It was Kingwood with Pau Fero accents, and I was wondering if yours was the same?
