Title: Thermacell heated insoles
Post by: happy1 on November 27, 2012, 09:29:00 AM
Has anyone used the Thermacell heated insoles?  $100.00 is a lot to spend if they don't keep your feet warm.

I have them you have to get boots a size bigger and I wasn't impressed with there warmth. Not bad on chilly September  mornings but wouldn't trust them in November or December .

Get yourself a pair of good pack boots and merino wool socks for those really cold days .

I have a set and until I test them with a digital temp calibrator at work I will withold judgement.  When I used them I did not really see any difference and my feet were not what I would call warm.

I don't have them, but after reading the online reviews, I decided that my money could be better spent with something else.

I use simple tostie-toes from walmart.  They have a sticky side and I stick them on my insoles and they do great.

I have been very curious about these too.

I know it sounds funny but using deodorant on your feet does help a lot. Keeps them from swetting and that's half the battle right there.

The deodorant needs to be anti-perspirant as well, not just plain deodorant.  You are right, when feet sweat they get cold faster.

The electric socks work pretty well but i was tired of buying D cell batteries so now i use the toe warmers when i need them.

I have a pair of the Thermacell electric insoles.  Great concept, but unfortunately they don't work at all.  I've tried them 6 times in various temps.  They make zero difference even at 30 degrees above.  I can't feel any heat increase even when I turn them on in my living room.  Unless they can ramp up the temperature a long way, these are a tremendous waste of money.

Try putting those wall mart hand warmers in the tops of your socks. 2 per leg if needed.  My feet stay warm. I'm assuming the heat at the top of the boot is keeping the blood vessels working?

Hi Everyone:

I work for ThermaCELL and noticed this forum - so wanted to offer my assistance. ThermaCELL Heated Insoles are supposed to keep your feet warm, not hot, to avoid sweating and freezing.

If you feel that your Heated Insoles aren't working properly, give us a call at 781-541-6900. It is a pretty technical product, and our experience is that some of the problems you may be experiencing can be resolved over the telephone. If not, we will replace your insoles with a new pair or offer you a refund so you can save a trip back to the store. Hope you all have a great hunting season!

Thanks,
Josh Silvia

I have had good luck with the toe warmers that have the adhesive on them. They are similar to the hand warmers but sized for use inside a boot. For 4-5 hours sits they work as good in my Muck Boots as any other heavy pack boot I have tried. If I need to go longer I just slip out my foot and slap on a new one. Similar to above, they do not over heat your feet but rather just keep them warm enough to stay comfortable.

Toe warmers inside of boots.  For really cold days in a stand, add a hand warmer on top of boots and slip into Boot Blankets from Artic Shield.  A piece of old carpet under your feet helps too.

Great resposne from TCell.  Awesome customer service.  I love all the ThermaCell products, but the price is a bit too high for me at the time.
