Title: Cape York Hogs
Post by: Michael Baker on November 29, 2012, 12:07:00 AM
Well once the season has finished and 8 months of solid guiding has been all completed, the guide got to get some of his own.

I rang my mate and we headed back to the Cape before the wet started. We hunted for 2 days before the clouds opened up and dumped 3 inches of rain on the show. That spread the hogs out and made it hard to get them but we ended up with 16 good hogs.

I attempted to do what I did in January during the wet by taking a Trophy Class Hog with each type of Bow (Longbow, Recurve and Compound). I did it in 4 days then but this time I did it in 5 days but got better hogs including one set of tusks with the longbow going just under 10 inches long.

Hope you guys enjoy the pic's:

The Salt Water Croc on the bank is in excess of 20ft and the one in the water 10-12 ft.

Good Hunting all

Thats a cool accomplishment!

What's up with the hogs snout in the second pic?  Maybe it's just the pic but it looks like he has one nostril hole in the middle of his snout.

Yes guys that is the New Property and the hogs are pretty good along with some great fishing. During a couple of hunts this year we saw up to 300 hogs on one waterhole. The drier it is the better.I think the best day we saw approx 600 hogs.

Cheers

Yikes!

That croc is a prehistoric monster! .....the hogs look like they come from a different planet too!

Looks like fun to me!

Goodayeh Mic,

Glad to see your still whacken those hogs. 600 hogs a day! You going to have to fill the war wagon with arras. Nice lizard - I'll pass on the fishin till you get that houseboat on the riva. Merry Christmas to you and your family mate.
