I need a good and tough cut on contact 125grn broadhead! What do you shoot? Any help and opinions are welcome!
I have to many 2117's to change arrows right now, so I need to stick with a 125grn.
Thanks,
Jason

Snuffers, woodsman, zwickey to name a few.all can be found in the classifieds
-
I would prefer a two blade! Bleeders would be alright, either way!
Thanks,
Jason

Haven't tried the 125 Simmons but I'm sure all their products are quality.
The last 125 I shot was a Steelforce premium and loved them.
-
Stos broadhead with glue on insert and of course German kinetic
-
I would like to shoot a heavier head, but I don't want to have to buy new arrows at this time. When I replace my arrows, I will go heavier!
Thanks for the input!

I have been using the Simmons 125's. I doubt I will use any other 125. The wound channels are huge the panatration is as good as it gets. I killed my second with the yesterday evening. If I switch heads again it will be for the Tigersharks.

I am super impressed with the Simmons heads.I'm shooting the 135 tigersharks with a 100 gr insert out of a 43# Kanati and these heads are doing some very impressive things. I've killed 4 deer so far this year and every single one looked like somebody threw a hatchet thru the deer!
This deer. She spun at the shot and the broadhead traveled along the rib cage, under the shoulder and into her neck where it cut an artery. Blood everywhere for 75 yards and she was down.

I've been shooting Muzzy phantoms in the 125's. they fly really well, but aren't very durable. I pay close attention to keeping them sharp, but didn't get very good penetration on a hog I shot a couple weeks ago. The Simmons look good, and that's probably the direction I'm heading. I guess I wouldn't totally dismiss a three blade...if I found the right one!
Thanks again,
Jason

Magnus Stingers. Work for me when I use screw in heads.

lots of good 125 heads. from what ive seen the simmons look pretty mean.
-
Simmons Land shark, Magnus Stingers, The head I would probably go with above all though is the 125 grain Woodsman Elite made by VPA.
-
Lots of great 125gr broad heads out there. For the last several years I've pretty much just stayed with Magnus Stinger 4 blades. Awesome broadhead.
-
Hard to beat the 4 blade Magnus Stinger.
-
Magnus 4 blade stingers are a great head. They fly threw deer and elk like a hot knife thru butter. They do bend a little easy if you hit a rock after the pass thru. Really easy to sharpen too.

I have shot the Simmons 125 on compounds, My daughter killed one buck with one 135Lbs. complete pass thru 2 ribs 1 side 1.5 ribs on the other side. Great blood trail she has 24" draw and shooting 35# compound. I have killed a lot of deer with all kinds of heads but Simmon's out perform anything I have used. If you hit them perfect any head will work, but stuff happens sometimes. When this occurs Simmon's will out perform the rest. LCH

Thanks for all the good information feller's. Think I'm gonna try the Simmons. As I said before, I would love to go heavier, but I have to many good aluminum arrows to start changing up right now.
Thanks again guy's!

Dave has a lightweight version of the Landshark 165 (1 9/16" cut) being field-tested right now. It's going to weigh 130 grains. That's what I'd go with. I believe in cutting big holes, and you'd never notice the extra 5 grains.

Sort of hard to argue with that! I am going to try the Tiger Sharks. They are the same weight as my Zwickey Deltas. I don't really want to change my arrow setup either if I don't have to.

I shot a doe Thanksgiving morning she was quartering away about 45 degrees. She took a step when I released the arrow and it hit her in the ham angling forward. She ran 50 yards out of sight. I waited 2 hours got down and went to the last spot I saw her and found a blood trail about 2 foot wide. She was laying 50 yards away in a cut hay field. The broadhead came out of her abdomen and almost field dressed her.
I have shot a lot of deer with different broadheads but none I have tried will do this. The shot was less than optimal but the results were good. If you hunt long enough you will make a less than optimal shot (stuff happens) we owe it to the animals to do all we can.
I was using the screw in Tiger Sharks, I have used all of the Simmon's heads they all are great.LCH
