Title: Crow creek Dalton longbow vs others I have listed?
Post by: S.C. Hunter on January 04, 2013, 01:24:00 PM
If you have had experience with these bows, what do you think of them? They look nice but have never seen one except on my computer screen and naturally haven't shot one. I am looking at the Dwyer's, J.D. Berry and the Hill bows also. I need a Hill just because it is my last name plus the history of that bow. It is tough when you start looking at longbows so many nice ones out there.

I am real partial to jdberrys. Have had 5 customs. My favorite for an r/d bow is the taipan. Have had one fir years. But right now im pretty hung up on the misty dawn and vixen. His 2 american style longbows. All the bows u mentioned are great bows. I just love my berrys

Well, they are fantastic deep core/narrow limbed, mild r/d longbows.  Very silent, very smooth, forgiving etc.  I would rate them in the mix for the top for that type of longbow, especially when you consider the value you get in the bow.  I dont know of a "better" buy in this style of longbow considering the woods Elmer uses, finish etc....

The standard grip on the Dalton is a low wrist, kind of cross between dish and locator.

As far as bow performance and manners etc. they are most similar to a Toelke Super D from my experience... which are fantastic.

Comparing to a JD Berry, ive only shot 1 of those and it was real nice, very similar in performance to the Dalton, but the grip was alot different, had alot more of a true "locator".

On the Dwyer, ive only shot the Duantless which is not a good comparison.

Your best bet would be to shoot each and decide.

I have 3 of Elmer's bows.  I have a Blackfeather, a Crowmag and a Dalton.  The Dalton is my favorite between all three of them.
