I am new to archery and recently purchased a used Iron Mountain Custom Longbow made by Mike Forester. It is AMO 62" 60# @ 29" and I am looking for either someone that has one of his bows or just some recommendations on where to begin with tuning, namely brace height for this beautiful bow. My thoughts are somewhere in the 6 1/2" - 7 1/2" range. My draw length is 27 1/2" and I just purchased two Flemish Twist, Dynaflight97 strings at the string makers recommended length of 60". Any information would be helpful. I have seen posts here at Trad Gang from people who have thse bows and heard nothing but good things about them. Thanks.

Mike makes great bows. I would start around 7 1/4" and let the bow tell you from there. There are a couple of Iron Mountains in the family and I've shot them a good bit.

I have a 58" and it is quietest at 7 3/4. Seems kinda high but that is where it is working for now. That is measured from deepest part of grip.

Thanks guys. I saw this bow on U-Know-WhoBay and when I did some research (Google) it brought me to Trad Gang's forums. When I saw what peeps were saying about Iron Mountain bows and the fact that Mike isn't making them anymore, I decided to do the "Buy Now" and not wait for a bid sniper to steal it at the end of the auction. It did not have a string on it when I bought it. So, I took to my local archery pro shop and had a B-50 endless loop made for it. Brace height with the B-50 was 7 1/2" but with dacron having more stretch and being more forgiving, I think the Dynaflight97 will require a little more tweaking to find the sweet spot for brace height.
