Title: Bow Stringer
Post by: 1829 on February 07, 2013, 06:42:00 PM
Can't find my Selway bow stringer        and it stinks. It finally got to freezing today and I was wanting to shoot my Dad's Grizzly.

So before I order a new one, you guys have any other recommendations for something to string my two recurves? I really liked the Selway...just wasn't sure if there are newer ones out there that might work as good or better.

Thanks....Matt

Segway is still my favorite for recurves. For longbows 50# sor less I just use the push pull method.

I have a Flex Pro made by OMP. I got mine from 3 Rivers. They grab the top and bottom by the back of the limb and are easy to adjust the length. They have no cups like most of them on the bottom limb.

I like the Black Widow stringer myself, mainly because I don't like the rubber friction gadgets, and the BW top part is the only one I've found that doesn't interfere with the bow string on any of my bows.

I have just a simple Bear Archery bow stringer.  It does the trick cheap simple and does what its supposed to do.

I like the Webster too, works on recurves and longbows. Braveheart Archery is where I got mine.

Thanks guys...appreciate it. I need to get my Dad's bow strung so I can can get an accurate shaft length for my drawing the bow. I think I have some old woods (possibly from Herters(?)that Dad got in the 1960s) with the original Bear Razorheads glued on them in a box from Dad's attic. But they're classics and I have no intentions of using them...WAY too much sentimental value.

So I hope to be posting some questions soon re: shaft selection, etc. once I get a shaft length nailed down. My "accuracy," or lack of will most likely send me towards carbons for their durability I suspect. Only time will tell though...

Welp, told my wife that I couldn't find the stringer and that I was headed to the basement to look some more. I thought "Lord, just open my eyes." I didn't even make all the way down the steps, looked down upon my "bench" and there it was in the original plastic pouch with the directions sheet!!! Yesterday I had gone over that bench TWICE and didn't see it. Man...like I didn't know already, God's pretty awesome. I need to remind myself to "open my eyes" when it comes to more things in life!!!

Then I went outside to check on our son's 7-8 year old rabbit...DEAD! Welp, back to life's little trials....
