Title: What did the "White Elephant" drop off at your place?

Thank you Butch I think I'll use the saw to cut up some cherry for the pork shoulder I'm smoking tonight for my sons birthday party tomorrow. Those ace heads have spring turkey written all over them.

Something really cool was inside of Ed Pitchkites book was a poem :The Bow" and a photo taken by Ed which he elaborated about his 57th anniversary hunt.

How cool is that?... Way!... I'm saying.

He dropped off a freshly made flemish string just the right length for one of my vintage Bear bows, a pair of camo trousers (I'll have to gain a bit of weight and grow a few inches first though), a nice leather arm guard (did you make that?), and a calf skin tab. Very generous, thank you Steve (macksdad).

Mudd, I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks for putting this together. What a hoot and it's fun to see the posts here on what the elephant is delivering. The old saying is that it's better to give than receive probably apply's to what I've seen here. As was mentioned before, it seems like everyone here wants the recipient to feel like it's Christmas Day.

I hope i don't get in trouble for this long post, but i feel compelled to acknowledge this in public, to once again let people know there are very good people on Trad gang. I have been blessed in the past by them and once again i have been blessed. Wasn't having the best of a day when the mail lady brought to the door a box from Phrogdrvr. He did a little research on me, and what i found really made all my pain go away. First there was a K-Bar knife in it, not any K bar knife, but one he had while over in Irag.Yes i have a lot of custom knifes, but this one is so very special because a man who served my country carried it doing so. Might not mean much to some, but to me it does. Will dependently be on my side. Also in the box was a knife sharpening kit,zwickey broadheads and very nice wool hat to keep my bald head warm. When i got to the bottom of the box there where some very special feathers and a gift from a Owl. He researched well,as the owl is a animal i admire deeply. Last in a bag was a gift from his daughter. A handmade braided bracelet that she made, she felt compelled to add something to the box. It is very nice.. What a very special daughter you have there Phrogdrvr. I am so honored to have been blessed by these spiritual items..The bracelet i now wear will remind me that there is still beautiful people out there and most of them here on Trad Gang.

Tom owns Petty's Custom Leather Goods, and obviously does some fine work. I opened the package and first pulled out a leather hip quiver. Then I pulled out a heavy leather adjustable arm guard. If that wasn't enough he also sent a book by Jim Hamm-Ishi&Elvis. Very generous of you Tom. Thank You

He sent along a classic bowman hat- which fits my big head perfect and has already been put to good use while I was plowing my driveway! Camo gloves (2 pair), face net, camo hat, cinch straps, bow wax, hot melt, feathers, self-adhesive quiet padding (I'm freshly out of this and really needed more!), tie-down cord, assorted points and nocks. Oh, and a cool knife! Gee whiz, I forgot the hip quiver and the armguard.

I've already shared the wealth with my son and my grandson!

This was my first time with the White Elephant. I fear the fellow I shipped to might be disappointed with just the 3 new Magnus broadheads I sent. I had no idea that it was normal to send a variety of things like so many have done.

Yep my first time too and I'm a little worried too after seeing some of the goodies these guys are sending out.

Ray Dean sent me a bunch of really cool goodies!!!

Some woodsmans, wool mittens, a compass, arrow wraps and pink feathers to go with them, a cool old buck knife, some serving string, a possibles bag, fur string silencers and a really cool batch of homemade fishing flies in an old camel tin :)

Got 6 pink and 6 green arrow wraps with fletching to match, a bottle of string silencers, 6 145gr muzzy broadheads,a Grayling era Bear archery razorhead insert card, a buck knife, a snuffer file jig, and some cool homemade fishing flies in an altoid tin. Also a copy of Arizonas hunting regs which were probably used for packaging but I enjoyed reading anyhow. Thank you Ray. And to answer your question I don't like it..... I love it!!!

About three dozen assorted carbon/aluminum shafts
Some 8 grain/inch weight tubes
A bag of fletches
Three 3-blade broadheads
A unique gutting tool
Some blaze orange cap wraps (great for flu-flus!)
A very nice leather shooting glove and arm guard

I got it inside and the grand daughter wanted to open it up....she reaches in the top and pulls out a Buckwing porta roof/blind really cool, I can use this. She starts pulling more things out, I couldn't believe it stuff just kept coming, nice stuff...a pack of tinks field wipes, some nice pink wind indicator feathers, a pair of thermal insoles for my boots,a camo cap, a camo belt, nice set of camo suspenders,a good sharpening stone 240/100 grit,a scrape dripper, a roll of good camo tape, a compass, fur lined leather gloves, and then out comes a really nice selway rawhide recurve quiver. I thought man how much stuff can you get in that box! And then ...get this.... a riser! Ha..its a black bear riser warfed to take ilf limbs...couldn't believe it. Im gunna have fun building this bow, should make a dandy fishing bow.....Thanks Hap. I do appreciate it.

For those of you still waiting for that elephant to show, be patient, this picture shows her trail out of Northern Michigan where we got 6 more inches of snow last week. It appears as though her path took her past our bird feeder where we serve up a suet mixture that includes peanuts. She polished that off and her tracks are heading east/southeast.

Enclosed were a hunting DVD, a Smith carbide sharpener, and assortment of Maxi-fletch feathers, a firearm safety lock (can't be too careful!), and several items I'll be trying out in a long-neglected hobby. There is a folding filet knife and several packs of plastic baits for when bowfishing has ended and hunting season has not yet begun!

When I PMed Izzy to thank him, I told him that this White Elephant exchange brought back feelings of Christmases long ago. I hoped, hoped, HOPED my simple gifts to Tom P would bring him a little enjoyment, but also hoped and wondered about what might be coming to MY mailbox. Haven't had that feeling for a long time. Maybe I'm not all grown up and "hopeless", after all!...

So... thanks Izzy, thanks Mudd for getting the ball rolling, and thanks to everyone for making this a lot of fun.

In the package was.. half dozen Ribtek broad heads(pretty darn neat looking heads) 3 single bevels from australia, 3 snuffers, 3 judus, 2 blunts, fletch tape, a nice sized knife, neat looking armguard, pack of feathers, nice shooting glove, and the little metal disc thing is a predator distress call.
