Title: Getting Whipped
Post by: shankspony on May 18, 2013, 08:06:00 PM
Just made a big step.

Two years ago I was a compound shooter who wondered what it would be like to hunt with a longbow. In the end I went out and bought a second hand longbow.... Not the best to start with. 75lb @ 28.

Its become addictive though, this longbow learning, so This week I took a big step and fully committed. I sold my last compound because  I felt it was confusing my form when I used it and with the money from the sale, have just ordered A Toelke Whip.

The feeling is better than Christmas.

Yeah, it was the feed back from this site that convinced me to go that way.

My first longbow was a Whip - bagged my first buck with it too!

Craig, you mentioned your form. After having Dan build me a number of bows including standard and classic whips I am convinced that if there is something he knows as much about as building bows it is how to shoot them properly. You will get no better advice concerning shooting form and technique.

I have to second what Jim Wright said.  I have 2 of Dan's "whip"s and love them.  But even better is that Dan is such a great guy and has been very helpful coaching me on my form.  Helped me eliminate some mistakes I was making and changed a few things for the better.

I think you just made a BIG mistake ordering a Whip.

Unless you can afford to buy another one, or two or three.

Great job!  Fantastic bow!

Just ordered a Super D!

Also, Dan helped out on the St. Jude's auction with a youth bow!

Great people!!        :clapper:
