Title: American Leathers Crossover???
Post by: toby on July 11, 2013, 07:25:00 AM
Been thinking about getting one of these. How thick are the stalls. I like some feel of the string, but current glove, Berlin, is a little thin. I can't shoot well if I don't feel the sting some, just want a little more comfort. How does it compare with the other American Leathers models?

The stalls are a little thick, especially where the nylon reinforcement is. I use a big shot myself and love it. I've never used a crossover personally, but I have seen them and the construction is exactly the same as the big shot. The only difference is that the nylon in the stalls is inside the stall, instead of on the outside like the big shot. American leathers makes one tough glove, can't go wrong if durability is a requirement. Hope this helps.

I have not used any of the other gloves from American Leathers but am well pleased with my crossover.

It takes a little while to break it in, but I think I get a feel for the string. By contrast I bought a glove years ago with plastic inserts in the fingers and did not care for it at all.

I use one, and I have a good feel for the string. I expect that my glove will last for years, but I bought a second one just in case I should lose my primary one. I doubt I will ever use another type of glove.

I started with the big shot and loved it. It is still in great shape. I then purchased the crossover and like it better than the standard big shot. Does take longer to break in but once it is there it is great.

best money I've spent, period. I didn't like the nylon on the outside of the others, so I never tried them. as soon as I saw the Crossover, I snatched it up and have been extremely happy. I can feel the string just fine.

Same path - same result. Totally agree...

It's not going to feel like a damascus but you'll get use to it quick and come to love it like the rest of us.

Love my Crossover.  Switched to it once I decided to leave my tabs behind.  Really smooth release.  Apply some talcum powder to the stalls occasionally to keep them slick.  From what I've read this glove should not form any string grooves.

As far as sizing the glove will be pretty tight if you order the correct size.  I bought a medium, which is the glove size I wear.  I could just get my fingers into the stalls at first, but after a few sessions it fits, well, like a glove.  No slipping or tightness.  It's just right.

How does it compare to a super glove or dura-glove. I just don't want something that is too this.

Well there is an insert in there and the Dura Glove doesn't have that so...yes, it is thicker. I started with a Demascus, then the Dura, like Charlie said...it takes some getting used too but your release will get cleaner.

I don't like the Big Shots much. Not a fan of nylon. Thats why I bought the Crossover.

I shot the bigshot.  I now shoot the crossover and that is all I shoot.  You cannot wear it out.  Call John Turner at American Leathers, he will do you right.  fax a tracing to make sure you get the right size.  Great product, great people to deal with.  It will not feel like a thin damascus.
