Does anybody have pics of twisted recurve limps? Is there a way to tell if my limbs are starting to twist?
-
Greco, I had it happen on my wife's recurve and the way I noticed was that the string would not go back in the groove that is indented in the limb for the string to sit when at rest. I just twisted in the other direction a few times and it came back straight very easily.
There are some guys on here that are pro's at that sort of thing so you may want a more qualified reply. Good luck.

take the string off of it and use a longer string with a couple clothes pins to hold it in the center of the limb tips right below the tip notches and eye ball down the bow. if its twisted it will be out of alignment....
my advise is send it to someone with some skill to straighten out. you can ruin a limb pretty easily trying to do it yourself unless you have experience.... .02 cents worth

On one I had it was visible whether strung or not by looking down the limbs. And it was not very bad, just a slight twist of the upper limb. In my case it did not get any worse and did not appear to impact the shooting of the bow. I tried twisting in the opposite direction but it usually returned to the old set eventually.

Thanks to all that replied

if it's bad enough, when you draw the bow, the string will slip out of the nocks and slide down the limb

Christos is it the Hatfield. If you want I can look at it some time. I have a bit of knowledge here as I have tillered the twist out of the bows I have made, and know what to look for.'

Yes Dave,I am concerned about my two Hatfields.Probably I am paranoid but they are my darling bows

Mine wouldn't go in the groove when it was twisted.

El,grasp one limb in your hand w/ the back of the bow facing up. Peer down the bow aligning the riser and the limb. If the tip curves away from that line then there is a twist. Turn the bow around and do the same thing w/ the other limb.
Best solution for that...shoot a longbow. LOL Good luck.
