Title: String length for Martin Hatfield
Post by: Yippeekiay on July 20, 2013, 08:13:00 PM
Just sent the funds for a Martin Hatfield takedown 65#@28 and 62"amo. The gentleman said the sting seemed short as it is only 56" long. I agree. Can anyone tell me the actual length and further suggest materials and strands, Please?
My search skills stink and have only found more confusing information.
Any definitive answer would be appreciated.
Regards!

Also, do different makes and models with the same AMO have different string length's?

Depends on the material and how it's measured.  AMO says 57" string length, but measured under 100# of tension.  On a relaxed string, that would be around 56" for polyester ("Dacron"), or 56.5" or so with most "Fast Flight" materials.

Not sure if they are approved for FF--probably depends on when it was made.

So I got the bow today. In anticipation of needing a string I stopped at the archery shop and got an October Mountain F/F for a 62" AMO.  Got it home and it measures around 56". The one that came with it is also 56". Strung it up and got the right brace height with no fiddling. Shoots like a... well, I never shot a 65# bow before so I've nothing to compare it to.
I'll stick with this one..
