I finally ran out of feathers. Have not bought any in along time.
Who has the best price/quality these days?
Years ago it was Tru-Flight, Today???
I use full length, and burn my own shape.
-
trueflight or bearpaw are my choice.
...or magnus naturals.
The others' bases are crappy quality in my opinion.
-
You will be amazed with the quality Magnus delivers. And he is a good man!
-
Magnus in my opinion offers the best quality that I have ever used or seen. His feathers out last any others that I have ever used 10-1. Remember in most cases in life, you get what you pay for.
-
I was a Trueflight user since they came out. However, now...AMG is the only feather my arrows will see. Better prices, brighter colors and great quality. Others may argue but I'm impressed with AMG.
-
I've always been good with TruFlight.
-
Bearpaw from Kustom King are pretty good quality and prices, but limited to a few color choices. They carry Tru-flight as well and 3Rivers carries Tru-flight.I also keep a lookout in the classifieds here, good buys too!
-
True Flight have always been the best of the domestic dyed type for me. I usually shoot natural barred turkey feathers, a little more money going in but they hold up a lot better and have pretty good natural water repelling properties. I've bought most of them from custom feathers (never shot a turkey).
I have read great things about Magnus on this board too.
-
I switched over to AMG Feathers and have never looked back, great quality and inexpensive!
-
I just got done chopping a bunch of Trueflight feathers and they have very uniform bases: they are all too wide.
If the base is too wide it folds over as it is cut and gives the feather an unacceptable shape. Sometimes this can be fixed by cutting it again but many times it can't be.
A few years ago Trueflight give us a story of woe about the lack of good quality feathers and said they could no longer supply full length feathers of a long length. Since then all the full length Trueflight feathers have been pretty short.
But Gateway and Sagittarius both have nice long full length feathers so they must have a line on some special turkeys somewhere.
The bases on Gateway and Sagittarius feathers are narrower and give me great results in chopping. I will only use Trueflight feathers if nothing else is available.
And like Craig writes, you can't beat the prices on the Sagittarius feathers.

True Flight - Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear had the cheapest prices last time I needed some. Sponsors here as well, dozen prices were cheaper than everybody else's hundred prices

Turkey Flight Traditional Feathers by Magnus are awesome. It's all I use. Either he grinds mine or if I run out he has some for sale. They last a long time and the cut and grind is a cut above commercial grade.
-
I normally use True Flight, but I did buy some Bear Paw feathers awhile back and the worked just fine.
-
new poster here...but old school traditional guy...and this might as well be where I start...I love making arrows...have done it for almost...well ...geeze...40 years?
I like to use left wings from wild turks...I havent hunted spring gobblers in a while, but my oldest still does...
I ran out...(or he did) and I found a good source for some similar...Raptor Archery in Oregon has some barred fethers that are already ground...nice quality...and who likes grind feathers anyway...LOL......OK..I dont mind...but this is sort of a traditional archery luxury...t

As Joe said AMG all then way. Better prices, brighter colors and just better feathers than the rest.

John, Have you ever tried SAGITTARIUS FLETCHINGS? Most guys never heard of them. I'm telling you they are half the cost of the rest of them and not much difference then True Flight. A little higher on the back tip. The quills are a fraction larger, but you would never notice the difference.

Where can you get AMG feathers?
-
Craig,I ordered 400 Feathers from Sag,and they are of excellent quality.Out of the 400 that I ordered, there was not a single cull in the batch.Quality is just as good as Tru-Flight,at half the cost.Bases are very uniform, and the length of each base was spot on,Im sold.
-
AMG for me, but I do have some Magnus ground turkey and goose feathers on the way. I plan to give Sagittarius a try next time I get pre-cut color feathers.
-
I like AMG. Prices are good, colors are very bright.
-
Try Magnus. You won't regret it
-
Thanks mates; This will help a bunch.
Good Hunting, Oldbow

If you buy 200 of AMG feathers you can get 300 of Sag. for about the same price. It's a no brainer in my mind, but you guys do what you want. Just trying to help out a Trad Gang member to save some money.
-
I use 2 types ONLY. Magnus (Matt Gundock) ground natural turkey feathers (dyed just about any color you could want) OR Trueflight. Quality of each are unmatched in my book. I have tried the others, and unless they have changed the way the manufacture and their feather suppliers, I have NO interest in switching.
Now, these are just my findings, but typically when I find something I like and it works, I stick with it. In my experience, saving a few dollars ends up costing you more in the long run.

You can only buy them from them. Keeps the price down. Go to there web site. You might have to call. Not a fancy site
