I've always had problem with my center servings separating around the nocking point after only a few months of shooting. Is this normal or am I missing something? I tie my own center servings using BCY .020 braid with a bohning serving tool. I'm thinking about trying a different serving size as well as a different serving tool. I shoot three under.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are useing a flemish twist string you need to serve the string the same way the string is twisted . As the string streaches during break in period the serving can loosen if it is backwards of the twist when you bring your brace height up . If you look at the string think what will happen if I twist the string more . You want the serving to tighten as you twist the srting . This might sound confusing but you can see what I mean if you study it a little . And you will say to your self " I get it " .

I agree with Graps as well "BUT" if it starts at the nock area you better check your nocks to make certain they aren't too tight when you snap them on..They should barely stay on and if you tap the string while facing the arrow towards the ground then the arrow should just slip off without too much effort...
Also if you serve too tight and very hard to spin the server loosen the wing nut that tightens it a little "If it has a wingnut"...
Serving material can dry out if you had it way too long and break easy as well...
More then likely like Craps already said is the serving needs to go in the same direction as twisted if flemished or if I'm correct in a clockwise position for a right hand shooter if starting from the top limb serving downward and counter clockwise for a "lefty" starting from the top limb downward!

Thank for your replies I do understand what y'all are saying.
How often do most people who shoot everyday replace center serving? What type of serving material and serving tools are y'all using?

Don't think the serving tool should matter,as,long as you like it.
I use the tough serving material. Don't remember the name but it is like fast flight stuff.
Have never has a,serving break since switching to it.

I use monofilament for center serving and though I do notice some wear on it, it has always lasted as long as the string. I use dacron or the newer types of soft serving on the loops and that, or the string itself wears out before the center serving. On the few where I used dacron for the center serving it wore out quickly.
