Title: How many shoot the low grip with their Widow recurves?
Post by: Bowhunter4life on September 27, 2013, 12:07:00 AM
I recently bought a used PCH with the low grip, as 1 I wanted to try a PCH, and 2 I wanted to try the low grip...  I sent it in to Widow to have a couple of blemishes fixed and quiver inserts installed a few weeks ago...  Now that I've gotten it back (in brand new condition by the way... Widow takes care of their folks!)... anyway, been shooting it pretty consistently the last couple of weeks.  Really liking the low grip!  Very consistent grip that in turn makes shooting accuracy very consistent.  Just wondering who else is shooting the low grip, or have shot it, and your thoughts on it compared to the regular or Asbell grips...

Only grip to have on a widow IMHO  I have tried them all but the low is the best for me.   I also think there is a misconception about the grip itself.  I think people think it feels like a true  longbow , and it really isn't even close to one.

Been sending mine one or 2 at a time to Schafer for checkering.

How much did it run to get the widow refinished? How much for the grip reduction? That black and white ebony is gorgeous btw!

Nice checkering. Am thinking your bow shoots better because of the checkering. Built three risers and each one shot better after adding checkering to them.
I had a widow PSA low grip a couple years ago and shot it well, but went back to a Asbell grip and think it is more consistant shooter for me . Thanks, Roy

The checkering helps no doubt, but I've been shooting low grips for fives years prior to the checkering.

I never liked the "looks" of a low Widow grip, but when I was able to hold all of the different grips I liked the Low better then the others, followed closely by the Asbell, then the standard in a pinch.

Love that B&W ebony!

I think I'm going to send my late 90's SA III in to have the grip reworked to the low grip...  But I recently traded my backup 56" limbs for a heavier set of 58" limbs and they will need to get refinished too... So I'm waiting for them to arrive...

I have been shooting my MAX 55@30" with low wrist grip for about seven months now and love it.  I had a problem in the beginnig with putting too much heel into the bow and actually had the string leave the groove for three or four shots.  I went from trying to shoot a Hill Style longbow straight to my widow and even with the low grip you can't treat them the same.
