Hey ya'll, been traditional bow shooting for over a decade now as well as hunting small game(never connected with big game in the past few years I've been trying) but I was wondering about getting into primitive hunting. I make stone points, arrows and have made my own laminated bows but I was wondering how many out there still go out with stick, stone, and string to bring home the groceries? My last season before joining the army and deploying(3 seasons back) I tried with primitive arrows and took a number of grouse and rabbits but never got within my comfort zone on the buck I was trying for. Plus I need to build a self bow..

I'm working on a set up for next year. There are some Tradgangers that do hunt regularly with primitive gear with successes. Maybe some of them will chime in.

That's a link to my post of the deer I killed with a selfbow, hill cane arrow, and a stone point.

That's an awesome buck! And one awesome stone point! Did you knap it yourself Scrub-buster? Either way, that's really cool. Exactly what I wanna try doing.

Thanks Rau. Good luck. Keep at it and it will happen.
Hopeful-Bowyer: I didn't knap that point. My friend Tracy made it for me. I gave up on knapping.
