Here is the short story from our public land deer camp from the first week in November. Great memories were made exploring big country. Although my buddy does shoot traditional he doesn't feel like he is doing the deer justice by hunting with his recurve so the details of his hunt will be omitted.
Let the adventure begin!

Smoke1953- Not sure where Cambridge is. We were actually more in the western part of the state than the northern....Clark county.
Roger- Our camp was definitely not Shrewhaven but will have to do until I can buy my hunting land in the UP!
-
Bernie B.- My little camper makes a great camp. It is nice when your wet and cold to come back to camp and have a hot meal, some heat, dry roof over your head and nice comfortable bunks!

Our camp is in Juneau Co.

Great post! Loved the pictures. See ya next year.

Great job and great story! By the professionalism in everything: your camp, your camp cooking, your success, it looks like you two are no rookies at this. Already looking forward to next year's edition!

Thanks for sharing your hunt.

I am guilty of being a lurker on this site and not much of a contributor......I enjoy reading the posts and stories that you guys submit. I tell myself I don't have the time! But who does?? It is time consuming to sit down and put together a post with pictures....so just a big THANK YOU to you guys who do put in the effort to make this the great site that it is for everyone else to enjoy!!

The temps averaged in the low 40's for highs and mid to upper 20's for lows. They got 3" of snow one night an hour or so north of us.

Well done on the story, pics and buck.
Great looking, comfy camp. Thanks for posting.

Thats as good as it gets. Love the wolf pic. That country looks like it is managed for timber. Those were the good days of hunting in the Adirondacks, it isn't done here on public land in the north country anymore.

The pic of the wolf is actually a frame off of a video I took of two wolves that skirted me about 50 yards out. We always see tracks but it is rare to catch a glimpse of them. The one in the pic was jet black....another bonus!
The county that we were hunting in seems to do very well managing their timber resources. The section we were hunting has been extensively logged in the last couple of years which is great for deer habitat.

Great Hunt and pictures. I am surprised they do not allow mnore wolf harvests with as many as we see there.
I havent hunted that area where you were, Looks Great.
 I appreciate you sharing and congrats on your deer.

I live in the central part of the state and we are hearing of and seeing wolves killed closer and closer to home. Last year was the first year for a wolf hunt in Wisconsin and the tags filled FAST....this year has been no different. They are not just stories of folk lore around here anymore.
It was one of the highlights of my trip to see a pair...we will see if the current tags issued will keep them in check and how the deer heard is affected.

Very nice story and pic's. Congrats to "both" of you.

That really looks like fun, thanks for posting. Congrats on the bucks...

Loved it. Inspired me to do some hunting from a true camp next year. Hunting outta of a cabin all the time just has to make you soft.

I have some good private lands that I hunt and have been lucky enough to take a few nice bucks the last couple of years....but this hunt was every bit as satisfying. Setting up camp, scouting new ground with a stand strapped to your black, dragging a deer a long ways through thick nasty stuff laughing the whole time with your buddy....glad that you shot him in the morning so you didn't have to be afraid of the dark if you had shot him at last light!
Good times.....
