Steve was a hell of a guy who really loved archery. He was a devote lover of Yew and made some great bows.
This is a loss to our community.

This is so sad.
I've been shooting his bows for many years and recently bought my 4th one from him. We talked at Denton Hill last summer and renewed our friendship. It was very good to see him again.
Steve was a heck of a nice guy who made beautiful bows. I am glad I knew him.
My prayers to his family.

Steve was one of those guys you always look forward to visiting with. I think he was probably younger than I am, too young to go, for sure. Sad to hear.

I met Steve a few times at shoots, It was always a pleasure to talk with him....

It is sad news to hear of Steve's sudden illness and death. I am shocked! Steve was very kind to me. After I bought my first Abbott longbow Steve offered to stop at my city on his way out East to a shoot so we could have coffee together. He also donated bows to our troops in Afghanistan.
It says in bold letters on the Abbott longbow home page:
Keep on Shootin' Steve!

I was able to visit Steve's shop last year on vacation. Talk about a great guy !!! Gone way to soon.

Wow shocking. Anyone know what happened? I always say you can tell how well a bowyer builds a quality bow by how many you see for sale on the Classifieds. You never see Abbott Longbows there.
-
Sad to hear this news. Prayers for his family.

Sad to hear. I had one of his bows for a while, it is one of the few that I think about sometimes and wish I had kept. I bought it used but called Steve to find out a little about it. He was great to talk to, seemed like a heck of a guy.

Prayers for his friends and family!

Steve will be missed by a lot of people in the archery world and by the bowyer community. We shared a lot of thoughts about traditional archery. I had a great visit with him when we met up in Indiana at last years IBO Traditional World. I learned about his condition about a week ago and feared for the worse. Prayers to the Abbott family.
