Title: feather rest
Post by: bogeyrider63 on March 15, 2014, 01:57:00 PM
Am about to put a feather rest on my recurve. How much did you guy's raise your nock height from shooting off the shelf?  thanks.

Whatever your nock height was from above the shelf is what I would set it above the feather rest.

I advise folks that buy my rests to set the nock 1/8" above where it would be if they were shooting off the shelf even though the rest is approximately 1/4" tall.  Seems to work good for most.

I value Trap's Opinion here!

Love Trap's feather rest. Use it on my BBI longbow.
Bought several thinking I wear them out fast.
Other than adding a little glue to repair an edge still using the first one.
That 1/8 inch sounds about right.

been usung a feather rest on my Jack howards for years, I still have original rest that come with my first bow in 1983--  I replaced it for my trip, thousands of arrows have been shot off my rest and  other FR off my HOwards.
Jack recomended shooting with the cock feather in, you shoukld adjust your arrow so that the feather rides through the area open to the shelf-
I have never noticed any difference in shooting the cock feather in --  Jack made great FR--  I do have Trap's no problem  --
You should find better arrow flight when using a
FR. Works for me --
The only down fall is sever rain-- use that feather stuff --  it helps--   my 2114 and wood arrrows of the same spine fly like darts--
Good Shooting ---   Float like a feather - sting like a bee.     :) ))     www.classicbowman.com (http://www.classicbowman.com)   www.classicsportsman.comn (http://www.classicsportsman.comn)     coming soon- don't forget your wife--
