Title: KS Turkey
Post by: KSCATTRAPR on April 07, 2014, 09:06:00 AM
I had a chance to get out on Friday and had some luck. This tom came in with a few others about the same size. I built a turkey house to hunt out of over my spring break and it didn't disappoint me. He offered me a broadside shot and he only went about 40 yards before expiring. I was using my 54" Wild Horse Creek Mariah recurve made by Mike Dunnaway. My arrow was a 2016 with a zwickey delta on the end and it did it's job on the bird. His beard measured 8 1/2" and his spurs were close to an inch.

Here is the house I shot him out of. A friend and I made this over my spring break. I had a bunch of old barn wood left over from wedding projects and had some 4x4 posts laying around and this is what we came up with. It can comfortably fit 4 people with no problem.

Nice shooting!  The Mariah is a heck of a bow.  I draw almost 30" and it can go past that with no stacking.  I just talked to Mike yesterday about his WHC shoot at his house.  I couldnt make it this year.

It is a great bow. I draw close to 27" so its perfect for me....I couldn't make the shoot either. Hopefully one of these days....

Way to go!   :notworthy:   That's a great looking blind and tom.  I've had some birds working this week, but have been unable to seal the deal.  I'll be out again early tomorrow morning.    :coffee:

Nice bird, congratulations. You'll have to send that picture to Mike at WHC so it can get in his book.
