I think I have made my choice. Spirit Longbow in the 46# range. Not allot out there when searching the web on reviews but, found a few older ones here.
Would like to hear a few newer reviews so anybody have anything bad to say about them?
I put it that way incase I don't get any responses I know folks here think all good things about them. LOL
Actually, I would love to hear what you folks who own them think.

I had one 52#'s, it was a pretty sweet little bow. I only sold it to fund the purchase of another bow, I seem to have a hard time sticking to just one. I really don't have anything negative to say about it. Check out RMSGear, they have several in stock.

Yup, thats where I am looking and talked to a guy there, Dan, he was very helpful.
There are so many Longbows in my price range, the Spirit, is at the top of that but, not over.
I could go less expensive, Bear Montana ,but......
Well, I really don't have a "but" to continue that sentence. Its tough when you are a recurve guy and making the leep into the fog of longbows.

My son and I both shot and hunted with Spirit longbows for a couple of years before we upgraded to Big Jim's Buffalo Bows. We loved our Spirit Bows and have nothing but praise for them, the bowyer and RMS Gear where we bought them.

Danny will take care of you. The guys at RMSG are top notch. This is what the bow rack looks like in their store. And yes, several of these bows are Spirits.

46# @ 28". 62 ". I can't wait.. Now arrow selection, shoot 1916s from my recurve, I'll try them.

Your probably going to have to change arrows from what you shot on your recurve if it's similar in draw weight. I had a spirit, great starter long bow!

I shoot a 48# Spirit longbow and a 47# Spirit recurve (rare). Both are great bows! I would not consider them "starter" bows! These are two bows that I probably will never get rid of.

Congrats Joe! You will be very happy with your Spirit Longbow... You should try the arrows you have now... Then, if needed, just a point weight change may make them tune right for you...
RMSGear is a top notch outfit! They are now my wooden arrow "place-to-go"...

Thanks all, Will try out arrows I have and see where it goes.
I have some 600 spine GT Trads, but fear they may be too week.
My recurve shoots 1916 Alums but, kinda wanted to go carbon for some reason on my long bow. Seems I have had better luck tuning carbon.

I think the 600 GT might work just fine. I've shot 600's out of bows that weight or a couple pounds heavier with good arrow flight.

Very smooth&quiet, no hand-shock, no vices.

I would definitely try those 1916s. They may fly really well. If you're going to try carbons I'm shooting 1535s and 3555s out of my 46# longbow and recurve. 125gr up front on the 1535s and 175 on the 3555. I have mine cut to around 29.5", but I would start with full length and cut back only as far as necessary. The carbons change spine fast with shortening - not so fast with point weight change.
