TUSX has designed the Stone Sun Shirt with the warm weather hunter in mind. Having spent many years hunting both tropical and arid environments, we have formulated our own ideas on design concepts to benefit the hunter in these environmental conditions. When designing this garment we hoped to achieve two major goals; venting functionality to assist with warm weather relief, and full upper body coverage to help with sun protection.

Looks great Ryan, blends in real well with the surroundings in the pic.
Charlie
-
Thanks Charlie! :shaka:
-
That looks like it would e great for us southern hunters.
-
Looks great Ryan. This shirt would be great for southern spring turkey season and summer hog hunts. Pants in the future?.....Dave
-
That'll be nice for our hog hunts down south.
-
Nice shirt! How quiet is the fabric? I agree, great for the deep south.
-
Thanks Gang!
David, yes we have STONE "hot weather" pants too. I'll be posting that up soon.
Will, I think it's quiet being that it's a "polyester blend" material. For the hot weather design it was a balance between breathability, sun protection, stretch, weight, drying time, quietness and burr resistance.
-
This will be great for Bow season in Florida! :bigsmyl:
-
All it would need is to be treated with BuzzOff and it would corner the market in the south for hog and early season deer. Looks dang near perfect.
-
Great to hear Wiliam!
Yeah Joe, we had plans to have the material treated, but due to unforeseen circumstances with the factory, this didn't transpire. We were able to get the correct UPF protection though... Hopefully with the next factory we can get this corrected.
-
Yeah here in South Carolina I've hunted deer to many 100 degree days. Have you guys thought of using mesh also?
-
Mike we have mesh vents in the arm pits and back panel. We tried to design it with a maximum amount of venting while traversing with or without a pack. We tried not to expose too much mesh because here in the Pacific we encounter all types of burrs. Some of these burrs are terribly hard to remove and at times you feel like disposing your garment after stalk through these types of weeds, grass, brush, etc. lol!
-
Great stuff there,Ryan
-
Mahalo Felix!
While on the venting subject, in this image, you can get another look at the pit vents (black mesh). We also made these garments with a "relaxed fit" to aid in the ventilation process.

-
I'm liking what I see! Great efforts guys....
Keep it a coming!
Cheers,
Ak.
-
Thank you Al!
Cheers!
Ryan
-
That looks great! What's the expected price range for this and the pants?
-
Not a big commercial camo guy myself but that pattern is calling to me. Hope you launch an all purpose weight, something akin to Microtex which will cover everything from high temp gobblers and hogs to low temp deer with thermal layering.
I have much respect for the effort and research you have applied to this venture. Looks as though it will prove its effectiveness in the very near future. Good luck
-
Fattony77,
We need to iron out just a few more things before we determine prices. We'll be sure to let everyone know shortly.
Thanks Izzy,
We're starting off with "hot weather" and "cool weather" apparel and if all goes well, we'll move forward with our other projects. We have many prototype garments including colder weather apparel as well as rain gear.
-
Awesome! I'm definantly putting in an order when available.
-
Those look great. Where will these garments be made?
-
Thanks Mike!
Alan, at first we tried to have them manufactured in Australia, but we couldn't find a factory that was capable of constructing the product with the design concepts in mind. Eventually we ended up going to China where they're currently being manufactured.
-
Looking good Ryan!
-
Thanks Ryan. I imagine you will have a hot seller there.
-
Wait till you guys see the other features. If you think it is a good shirt already, it gets better ..........
Cheers
Mark.
-
That is a great cammo pattern, I could see it fitting in well in most new Zealand situations as well.
-
Thanks for the additional kind words Gang!
Here's a diagram of the "enhanced venting" of the STONE Sun Shirt.

7 weeks until the wheels touch in Hoolehua. I know what I'd be wearing if they were available. Really nice concepts and product.
-
Molokai Kevin??? Sweet!!! Chasing Axis deer???
-
Yes Ryan...Axis, as well as pigs and goats. I'm hoping Walter can put us into some good pig country for a day or so.
Very nice work on the TUSX lineup. I love a serious entrepreneur.
-
Awesome! Molokai is one of my favorites!!!
Thank you for the kind words about TUSX. Tony deserves all the credit with this up and coming company. I'm just happy that he's allowed me to be a part of it!
Aloha!
Ryan K Sanpei
-
Great looking stuff Ryan...good luck with the future process!
-
Thanks Jake!
The STONE Sun Shirt features twin pack compatible Napoleon chest pockets comprising a single layer mesh lining to assist with body heat transfer in warm climates.
-
Yep.... I think I'll be placing my order for a top like that soon as it's up and running !
-
Looking good Ryan! This clothing line will be a hit in the Southeastern United States for sure. In my mind, what has been offered in the past as hot climate hunting clothes has basically been fishing shirts in a camo pattern. This will be a quantum leap in the right direction. Keep up the good work and thanks for bringing us along on this ride, Scott.
-
Thanks Al!
If all goes well with shipping, we should be ready by the end of May.
Scott,
Thank you very much for the kind words. Hot weather hunting is a big part of what we do in both Hawaii and in Australia. We tried to develop and design a garment that would meet our needs for that specific type of hunting. We're in hopes that it works well for others who hunt in similar conditions.
Ryan

Ryan,
If you're running an email chain or notification system, I would like to be on it. I'm leaving for Mo on the 18th of June, so could potentially get these in time to use and then review here.
-
Kevin,
Here's a link to the website. http://www.tusxhunter.com
It'll take you to the "Coming Soon" page. There, you'll be able to sign up with your email.
Thank You!
Ryan

I WILL never buy your product you are helping china take over our countrys economy.I cant believe you couldn't find a place to manufacture in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.mho
-
Hmmm? I'll buy your product!
I'll be getting a pile of this stuff. Been holding off on new rain gear and looks what is about to hit the market!!
My buddy up here also wants a Stone Sun shirt and matching pants to chase elk in here this fall. He's one of those guys that overheats easily and is excited to get his hands on some TUSXhunter apparel!
-
arrow flynn,
We respect your stance and opinion.
TUSX is based out of the South Pacific. Tony tried his best to get his apparel manufactured in Australia but based on the design concepts and availability of material, it wasn't an option.
Yes, this company is not based in the United States and the product is not manufactured in the United States of America.
I am considering bringing this apparel line to the US. So far I can't find a factory that can't manufacture these products with the desired designs and materials. Maybe you can help me out? I've already talked to a few other US outdoor apparel companies who had to turn elsewhere for production.
So if you can help, I'll need a company with the desired materials, a printing company that can match the pantones of our camoflage and finally someone to contruct the garment to suit our needs.
Thank you,
Ryan
-
I found one of the few responses that I've received from a US based Outdoor Apparel Company...
"We tried having our gear made in the USA. Since Clinton signed NAFTA, it drove all of the technical fabric manufacturing out of business in the US. You can still find cotton made in the US, but all of the fabrics that are used in the outdoor industry are made in Asia. From the start, we always wanted to have our line made in the USA. After searching ourselves, we finally resigned to the fact we were going to have to have our fabric made overseas, but we still wanted to have the garments made here. We imported all of our fabric over to the US to have it made here. We lost 2 years trying to find a facility that could get the cut and sew done for us here in the US. We finally gave up and shipped all of the fabric back overseas. It was really discouraging that we couldn't find a place that could do the technical sewing at a half-way reasonable cost, but that industry was gutted when NAFTA was enacted. We are continuing to look at other options for having the cut and sew work done. But the sad reality is, at minimum the fabrics are going to be imported for the foreseeable future. That is how it is for all of the products within the outdoor and hunting world."
-
Ready for the winter weight. Looks great, especially that zipper silencer. I wish it was American even though its not an American company but to get high quality produced here is not practical for any small company that is trying to make any income.
-
It looks very nice.
I had a friend try to get a product made in the US but the cost and lack of workmanship was insane. He finally had to go overseas.
Gilbert
-
Thanks Gang, now back to the apparel...
The STONE Sun Shirt features an extendable cuff system that provides both skin protection and concealment. When not in use it discreetly folds away. We believe this system will be particularily appreciated by bowhunters. This should not impede the use of most gloves and tabs.
-
(http://www.tradgang.com/upload/ryan/IMG_3942.JPG)
-
This feature is an absolute winner.
I can second what Ryan has stated, when I tested the Stone sun shirt in the Northern territories of Australia I came back with no sun burn on my hands.
The only other way to combat this would be a full camouflage glove, which I am sure a lot of you will agree isn't the best in hot weather and it becomes difficult holding your bow.
There was also no ill affect with release or anchoring.
Cheers
Mark.
-
What sizes will your line of cloths come in?
-
Tim,
For this initial order, we'll have small to XXL.
-
my new summer gear!
-
Ryan,
I think the camo in the first picture of you looks awesome! If it wasn't for your face and head you were invisible. I think you guys have an awesome concept going.
-
Aloha Vince!
Thanks for the kind words! Hope all is well!
Ryan :shaka:
-
Ryan,
I love this........ wow you guys ROCK!

Thanks Pete!

Ryan
Do they come with a pop up umbrellas in case it rains?
I like the attention to details, keep it coming.
Abe
-
Great attention to the details,I really appreciate your design.

winner!

LOL Abe! Shhhhh.... Don't tell everyone about next years designs... :D
Thank you Mark, Pete, Clint and Felix! :shaka:

The STONE Sun Shirt features roll up tabs to help secure the sleeve in a rolled up position when field dressing game.
-
That's a cool feature, sort of like military shirt!
-
If you're wearing the STONE Sun Shirt and say .."Go go gadget shirt"...does anything happen?
and
Does it skin game?
-
Ryan D
That might be confidently info. But I might be welling to try when I get one. LOL
Abe
-
Ry, I really think you should try... Say it real loud and make sure the video camera's rolling first though. :D
and by the way, we still prefer to skin our own game... But, the sleeves do roll/push up to keep all the "gadgets" nice and clean... ;)

The STONE Barren Pant we have designed as a lightweight, hot weather pant and companion to the STONE Sun Shirt.
-
Nothing personal looks like a fine product. We don't hardly manufacture anything in this country anymore someday it will reach a tipping point.
-
arrow flynn,
It's all cool...
Like I mentioned, I totally respect your stance and I haven't given up looking for other options...
Aloha!
Ryan
-
The STONE Barren Pant features a 25mm (1”) internal webbing belt with lateral exposure to allow for item attachment.
-
We specifically chose a low profile buckle to avoid excessive interference when wearing a pack harness.
-
The STONE Barren Pant is equipped with an internal zippered storage pocket to help safeguard valuable items.
-
Nice features Ryan. Someone obviously did some serious brainstorming and consideration of things that might matter to a hunter...especially a bowhunter. Your info-blog/thread here is a fine way to describe the gear and answer questions.
Anticipating.
-
Thanks Kevin.
Tony Stoyanovski is the man behind all things TUSX...
Here's a look at the BOULDER Hardfleece Jacket. It was designed for active use in cool to mild weather conditions.

Any word yet about when these will be available ? I'm going to start pig hunting soon and the weather around her is getting close to 90 degrees!
-
Mike,
If things go according to plan, we'll be ready to launch before the end of the month.
Thank you!

The BOULDER Hardfleece Jacket features a lightweight face fabric bonded to a fleece backing.

The BOULDER Hardfleece Jacket employs an overlapping pocket bag system, we find this provides many advantages.
-
Our unique jacket pocket placement allows for access to all pockets when wearing a full harness system.

We thought about this years ago after sitting behind spotting scopes when hunting cool climate mountain terrain. It is a small feature we have come to depend on when on extended backpack hunting trips, where weight considerations can generally mean limited clothing brought along.

To all of you that have been following us over the past few months, thank you for your patience. We have now taken stock of our goods and organized inventory. Next week we will be ready to officially launch TUSX.
We will now release pricing structure for our apparel range. We will be keeping our profit margins very low, we are a very small team of dedicated hunters, & we do this for no personal profit. This allows us to keep our prices very competitive. Being a startup company we have elected not to register for GST (Goods & Services Tax) this saving we will also pass onto the consumer. However, when and if we exceed the GST threshold we will need to later increase prices & charge this tax. This will only occur with potential follow up orders, we will keep pricing for this order constant.
All listed prices are in AUD (Australian Dollars), to our many worldwide follows you will need to convert to your local currency to determine accurate pricing. We will perform an example conversion of our pricing to USD at todays exchange rate.
Boulder Hardfleece Jacket - $149.95 = 138.60USD
Boulder Mountain Pant - $114.95 = 106.25USD
Stone Sun Shirt - $79.95 = 73.90USD
Stone Barren Pant - $79.95 = 73.90USD

Outstanding efforts guys!
-
This is great news, I love the way you have kept us updating and interested. Well done guys!
-
Thank you for the kind words Al & Pete!
-
First class all the way Ryan!! Can't wait to get some ordered!
-
Thank you Jarrod!
All the credit goes to my mate, Tony Stoyanovski.
Gang,
My only concern for the initial launch will be the international shipping. Tony initially designed TUSX apparel for the South Pacific, but fortunately he agreed to allow me to introduce TUSX to the North Pacific, including North America.
We had hoped to establish shipping in the states, but due to the overwhelming demand in AUS, we had to keep all inventory in AUS for the initial launch. Additionally we're a small start up company, so our initial order was limited.
We hope you guys can understand and we appreciate all the well wishes and support we've gotten in the past few months. Hopefully if all goes well, we can place another order. Then I should be able to stock TUSX apparel in the North Pacific.
Best Regards!
Ryan K Sanpei

Thank you Jacob!

Stone Sun shirt and Stone Barren pants ordered - I'll give them a Florida try-out. :D
-
Love the design and attention to detail, well done!
Any chance you will manufacture these items in solid Earth tone colors at some point?
-
Thank you Scott! We appreciate your support!!! Keep us posted!!!
Chris, we definitely want to have solid colors in the future. Not only for the hunters, but fishermen have been inquiring also in regards to the STONE series.
Thank you!
Ryan

Our extended microfleece lined hand pocket bags also serve the purpose of creating an extra insulation layer to the vital torso area.
We use lightweight mesh linings for our chest pocket bags to reduce bulk and promote increased heat transfer through the garment from the high heat output chest area.

Our jacket features venting pit zippers. These are set low to near the same level as our hand pockets...

Twin sliders offer greater versatility to core body heat regulation...

Mesh lined zippered cuff gussets allow passive convection and sleeve raising to assist with field dressing game...

Ryan - the shirt and pants arrived in today's mail, but they arrived as I was literally leaving for work. :banghead:
I'll be able to try them on later this weekend. :D
-
Ryan-
You and your mate,Tony have done such a good job. The design is genius. The pattern-unique. The launch campaign-exciting and professional.
I wish you the best success. you have definitely put your work into it.
Do your pants fit knuckle draggers? I am 6'-4" and probably need a 36" inseam. Most camo does not fit me.
I really want to try out TUSX!
-
Scott, I hate when that happens, especially when it's a brand new bow!!!
Jasen,
Thank you for the kind words. Yes Tony has poured his heart and soul into TUSX.
Unfortunately, the inseam on the pants are 34". We'll definitely take a look at size requests for our next order.
Aloha!
Ryan
-
I had a chance to try both the shirt and pants on after work today.
I'm alway leary of buying clothing without trying it on, but the size charts were spot on.
Both pieces fit perfectly, and feel very lightweight - I'm looking forward to putting them to the real test.
Thank you Ryan !
-
That's great to hear Scott! Thank you!
I was worried about you having to ship it back too. Tony has spent countless hours trying to get that sizing chart just right to avoid unnecessary returns. He also worked together with a local Australian Tailor to double check everything.
I'm sure it's getting pretty hot right now in your neck of the woods. Can't wait to hear your insight about the STONE apparel.
Aloha!

The integrated hood on an insulated jacket is an integral part of many jacket designs. We have omitted to use a hood on our Boulder Hardfleece Jacket, check out our Resources article to find out why!
http://www.tusxhunter.com/resources/why-we-do-not-employ-a-hood-on-our-boulder-hardfleece-jacket.html

Too bad about the sizes?! The XXL Stone shirt according to chart is only good for 43-45" chest?? Seems like they run way small?? I'm 6'1'' and I fluctuate between a 40-42" waist and 50-52" chest depending on time of year (think I'm part bear!) and usually order XXL but these won't even come close?? Where I come from an XL fits up to a 48" chest and an XXL is 48-52 depending. :(
-
Chuck - for reference - both the XXL shirt and XXL pants fit me perfectly. :bigsmyl:

My Stone Sun Shirt works great in this hot and humid Alabama summer weather. While stump shooting I stayed quiet comfortable and sun burn was non existent. I also really like the random camo pattern with it's muted colors. It will be great for early bow season and spring turkey hunting. My XXL shirt was also true to size. Thanks Ryan!
-
Aloha Ryan will your shirt be on Oahu to buy? :archer:
-
Thank you for the size comparison Scott. I know the sizing chart worked out well for your purchase.
David, keep us posted on next years hunts!
Darryl, the apparel is currently available online at www.TUSXHUNTER.com (http://www.TUSXHUNTER.com)
Aloha,
Ryan

Excellent products Ryan but as per your prior post you may want to get some product state side for sale. $35.00 for shipping is a bit high since it comes from over sea's. Keep at it and I bet every thing will fall into place very soon.
-
Agreed Scott!
I'll try my best to get products here for our next order. Because of the demand in the US, we are currently working on returns/exchanges being handled within the US.
Thank You!
Ryan

Aloha Kevin looks like you going to Molokai for mouflon?

Still on Molokai but heading home today. The weather here has been tropically warm and humid as expected. The axis rut has been strong with lots of stags roaring every day.
I wanted to try the Tusx clothing but simply didn't have time to make the purchase and get it in time for my trip. Looks like an outstanding product!
