I'm wanting to build a bow for my daughter to try out. I want to modify ElkChasers easy youth buildalong which makes a bow that's about 48" long.
My daughter is 3'2" tall. I was thinking of scaling the bow down to 36" long, and bringing all other dimensions down to scale. Think this'll result in a reasonable bow for a three year old?

you should look at the dryad kids bow blanks. I made a bow for each of my kids (3 and 5) from red oak. a 36" and a 48". the three year old can easily shoot the 48" and he likes it better than the shorter bow and DANG! Mikes bows are made out of osage and a nice exotic riser! I was going to get one but money is too tight right now.
have fun with em

Longer is better. A 36" bow has to be really narrow or thin to get bending by that little of a kid. They work, they are just a bit more fragile. Here's a little osage bow I made for my daughter when she was 3: Laine\\'s Bow (http://residents.bowhunting.net/sticknstring/lainebow.html)
It's around 36" but is really tiny. I've made a bunch more since then and like the longer bows better.

Hmmmm, I have a three year old. I've made some self bows. And it's almost Christmas. 1+1+1= a new project. Now where can I find this "youth bow buildalong" of Elk Chasers? Thanks for the idea!!! -Seven

This is Elk Ninja's youth bow build along. I made one for my son, it works very nice. http://tradgang.com//noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=035877#000000
