Title: GrizzlyStik Finish?
Post by: basket-rack'89 on August 03, 2014, 05:22:00 PM
I have some grizzly stik safari's that have been sitting in an arrow case for 8 years.  Finally dusted them off and started shooting them about 6 months ago.

The finish is starting to wear or chip on a few of the arrows and I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use some super glue or pro fin to touch them up.  The chips are likely from arrows hitting each other in the target.

Thanks,

Not real sure on that one mate as you've the older, better ones in my opinion and the finish always seems to rub down somewhat duller.

They are my new favourite arrow!

I once wrote some critical things about them because I was shooting them into termite hills. Hard on any shaft. I don't do that much anymore. I prefer to shoot into sand, and they hold-up just fine. The finish gets dulled a bit.

You should lightly sand them with some 320 grit emory cloth then dip or spray your favorite clear finish.

I've used Bohning super coat with great results.

I have a few dozen and the ones I've shot regularly have done the same thing. Chipped or flaked off its a hard clear finish. Might try clear nail polish on those small chips

Thanks all for the replies!  I'm not so worried about the dulled finish as the chips in the finish, I don't want them to flake out.  I'm gonna try applying a small amount of pro fin to a couple of the chipped areas and see how that goes. If that isn't cutting it, maybe fingernail polish or try picking up some Bohning super coat.
