I have been shooting the Eclipse 2 blades for a couple of years and have been having very good results. I see now that they offer a bleeder blade. Does anyone have any experience with these or bleeders in Zwickeys or Bear Razor heads? Does it make a noticeable difference in the blood trail? Thanks.

Yes I have a considerable amount of experience with them and yes they do make a serious difference in blood trails. A really good shot will kill a deer just fine with any sharp head but anything even slightly marginal and you will be really glad for the bleeder blades...

I have shot a number of deer with the Eclipse 4 blade and it is a fine head. Tough, holds an edge, flies well, nice trails.

I shot a couple deer with some Zwickey delta 2 bld a few years ago and liked the results. Mainly because I was having trouble with sharpening the bleeders on my 4 bld ones. Once I figured out how to sharpen the bleeders my blood trails were a lot better. The holes seem a lot less likely to close up in certain areas of the animal. Like an exit hole through leg muscle.

Yes, they make a difference in blood trails. I use the 145 with bleeders on deer and elk when using selfbows. When using glass bows I use them for everything. Concerned about penetration, on my moose hunt I took the bleeders out and went with the two blade Eclipse. I haven't yet decided if I will use the bleeders on my Brown Bear hunt next month.

Four blade eclipse is one of my favorites. The newer ones hold the bleeder blade in much better than older ones. Sharpens up real easy too

Not to hijack the thread but to Walt, I would use 4 blade on your bear hunt. I have some experience with BB and they are not hard to pass through but have hair and fat like you have never seen. It is nice to have more than a slit for leaking.
Hawk, I touch up the bleeders and assure they are shaving sharp as I do with the head. It has been my experience that the extra internal cutting is great, the real advantage for me is the entrance and exit is a bit bigger and less likely to clog up. Just my opinion mind you.

Thanks for the replies! I'm getting my elk gear ready. I'm thinking penetration should be ok even with a bleeder. I'm shooting a 650g arrow at 180fps. Thanks again. I like those Eclipse because I can get them scary sharp.

Nice heads. A lot of guys overlook the 4 blade Eclipse. The bleeders are small enough that there should not be any noticeable penetration difference on most game IMO. Bleeders on them are nice and sharp right out of the pack too.
