Who has a pretty cool trip or adventure planned this season? Mine will likely be a DIY bear hunt in NW Montana in the spring to cap off my fall and winter of deer hunting. I think I'll be using solely my widow pl all season. Let's hear what everyone else is doing.
-
Hey, good luck with the BW PL! Good bow.
Out this way, we sometimes go buffalo and boar hunting to relax after unwelcome adventures during the day job... like chairs sailing across the classroom past my head! But I love it!
I hope you meet that bear and slip a good arrow right through him!

Headed to Alberta bear hunting in May
-
Took my PLX Osage to Quebec this season . We had a great time. First time hunting Bear over bait.
-
Alberta moose. Things are getting dicey for my hunting buddy of 40 years though.
-
Heading to CO in a couple weeks for ELK. Taking a few Silvertips with me. Been 6 years since my last elk hunt. Chomping at the bit messing with all my stuff, packing and unpacking, sharpening, tuning...cant get enough.
-
No far away trips for me this year but we are having deer camp for the first time in a long time. I have been planning out recipes and scouting new spots.
I also have a buddy that has taken up trad and another that is ground hunting with me. Should make for a memorable season.
-
John and I are headed back to the ridge in Alaska that we've hunted for moose. Looking for a big one this time.

I am going to give the Coues deer a try down is southern Arizona this winter with a few PBS brothers.
-
Elk and mule deer in Idaho in a few weeks. Can't wait!
-
Going on my first backpack elk trip in a few weeks. Flat Tops area of Colorado. Never been before & can't wait. I've had my gear laid out for weeks! :D
-
I was cheated out of hunting season last year. I just hope to see my usual camp this fall, and drink the pure water that flows there. New tent... Now there's an adventure!
Killdeer :campfire:
-
First solo hunt after a stroke severely damaged my right leg. If all goes well I should have a winter in the woods, just me and my bow as we own the property I hunt and it's right out the back door.
-
Elk hunting Colorado the first 2 weeks of the season.
-
Will be headed to deer camp for 5 days again this year. Mudd and Cobweb. That's an adventure!
-
Colorado elk from September 1 - 17th. With my son. This will be my 4th pack in wilderness hunt.
Real anxious... will also be hunting whitetail and small game near home the rest of the fall.
Good luck all!
-
The LORD willing-1. BW Bear Hunt in 2 weeks. 2. Deer Season 10/14. 3. Turkey season in Spring 2015.
-
Nothing exotic but I plan to hunt deer, hogs, and maybe turkey locally.
-
nothing too crazy, the usual here and south Dakota, and my buddies in Ohio..
-
Right now I leave for Utah elk in a couple weeks and then a Newfie bear hunt in the spring. May be in Georgia and New York for whitetail.
-
Me and my two oldest sons headed to Colorado's San Juans chasin elk. Leavin Sept. 4th for two weeks
-
Hope to do a solo kayak / bowhunt in the Adirondacks this fall. 3-4 days in a remote area just to say I did it. Getting older ya know...lol
-
With a bit more time this year(I hope) and no out of state plan, I'm planning a 100% whitetail adventure!! :bigsmyl:
-
Ron I followed that Adirondack thread...you going to post about it if you go?
-
Does a bear poop in the bushes......?
-
I've been pretty tied down with my elderly parents these past 7 years which has kept me limited to a bit of white tail hunting. Dad passed 5 years ago and mom just last week. Hope to get back to a more normal life and do something fun next year.
-
Mountain Lion in Colorado this winter. Seems like all the hunts that that involve me turn into some sort of an adventure.
-
Montana mountain goat coming up soon!
-
Sorry about ur parents, BAK. Good luck on ur hunts.
-
Stone Sheep (Bob) My lion hunt with Dean many years ago involved the Life Flight Helicopter and a lion in a cave! Jim
-
I drew a bull tag for 6A. So I've got 2 weeks of elk hunting to look forward to. I've got one more scouting trip planned before it opens.
MAP
-
Only 15 miles as the Crow flies across the river.
But a very different hunt(Southern Il). Hoping for a grand adventure.
-
BAK, I understand how caring for loved and older family can run your own plans a muck. Sorry to hear about their loss. Have great time in the woods this fall, sounds like you earned it.
I will be hunting the family farm in WI at the beginning of November. Nothing to big, its more about quality time with family and old familiar grounds.
-
I am going to make the old bones creak and do some solo spike camp/backpack elk hunting this year in order to escape the moo cows.
-
My best hunting partner Brett drew a Goat tag. We're taking the llamas in and hunting with a bow the first 10 days in the Absaroka's north of Jellystone. Should be a hoot in some amazing alpine country.

I am hunting Shiras moose and black bears in BC in October. It will be the hunt of a lifetime for me. I simply can't wait :campfire:
-
Sounds like some great times ahead for everyone. I'm just staying here in MI at my (hopefully finished) deer huntin' shack.
My brother is new to the longbow this season, been shooting a lot and looking forward to a few weekend hunts with him. Always an adventure of some sort happening with the two of us together...
-
Just my annual trek to my native Texas in November, it is always an adventure.
-
Leaving on 8/31 for a Maine bear hunt. I'll start baiting bear in Arkansas when I get back for the season opener on 10/1. Be doing a little deer hunting too when I can breakaway from building bows.
-
Jim, I find your comment encouraging.
-
I will be leaving for Montanna for my first elk hunt Sept 9th.
My brother and his son and I are going to be near livingston looking for less than smart elk. I know they can be hard to find, but I have been successful many times throughout the years finding that one unlucky, mildly retarded animal for my wall/freezer.
We are going in green as I have the only hands on experience of our group in this type of hunting...just never elk.
Going to be there for 4 days alone as I wait for them to arrive. Maybe I'll get in some sleep! seems to have worked for me before.

Every day out this coming season will be an adventure. I guarantee it! :archer:

I have been down to Maryland 4-5 times this spring and summer scouting and learning the property . It opens Siptember 5 for 5 month's . I am planing on spending a lot of time in Maryland .
May life's simplest things bring you the greatest pleasures!!!!!

-
Remote Solo Bear hunt, Adirondack Wilderness...Cant Wait........ :scared:
-
Elk and mule deer hunt in Idaho in a few weeks. Then about three weeks for whitetails in northwest Wisconsin in November.
-
It will be the local antelope, deer, & elk.
However, I decided to get back into the lion hunting and we (Lenny and myself) picked up some redbone puppies early last spring; we will be spending a lot of time training/running them on Lions.
Jeff which unit did Brett draw?
-
Jim, last year was my first elk hunt and I used the philosophy to explore the country soaking in my surroundings, taking pictures and scouting. Everything else seems to fall into place naturally, for me anyway.
-
We have been in camp in SW Colorado since July 2nd. Looking forward to our 50th year in succession to hunt these beautiful Rocky Mountains! Elk are number one on the list!
-
Heading out Friday for a black bear hunt in Ontario with my son.... he only gets to watch as he is not old enough to hunt in Ontario. Hope to bag my first trad bear!
God Bless
Rodd
-
Just elk and deer here at home. But, plan to spend more time hunting this september. Seems like something always comes along to cut things short. Just not going to let it happen this year!
-
I will be hunting mule deer in Arizona in December and will be headed back to Alaska in the spring for black bears. In the mean time hunting whitetail turkey, pheasant and some bunny's.
-
I drew a Brooks Range moose tag so I will be headed up in September to chase moose and caribou along the haul road. Should be quite an adventure. I will probably be one of the few people up there shooting traditional.
-
18 days in elk camp this year. I am so ready!
-
I'll be after moose this fall along with small game and with my boys in tow. Should be fun as we've been away for several years and couldn't do much hunting. Hard to believe that it's only two weeks away.
-
I'm hunting locally for mule deer and elk. I put up base camp yesterday to start my adventure here in my own back yard. Did draw a Greater Sage grouse tag and hopefully my first fall turkey hunt. Only a few hours until my adventures start for the fall!
-
Walt,
Brett drew 323, that's south of Emigrant/north of Gardiner. Some pretty country but very Griz/wolf infested. We bumped a huge boar scouting two weeks ago. No blood on either side thank goodness.

Congrats on the grouse tag. I've always had the itch to shoot the ones I saw while hunting goat s and deer. Keep us posted on that, I'd love to see pics.

Leaving on the 26th of Sept for a 6 day moose hunt with Conne River Outfitters in Newfoundland. I will be hooking up with three other Trad hunters whom I met on this site. We are all pretty psyched! I will also have a bear tag in my pocket.
-
going on a 3 day bow trip to the adirondacks with some new friends from tradgang, then heading out for a 10 day deer bow hunt in southwest minnesota.
-
I'll be heading to SE OK again this year in search of black bear. These trips always end up being an adventure. Hopefully this year the adventure will include a bear, instead of the usual Murphy's Law stuff. (Had everything from flat tires and dead car battery, to flames under the hood and gov't shut-down closing my campground.)
Also got drawn for McAAP this year, so I'll be going down there with some old friends and meeting up with some fellow TG'ers to make new friends.
Downed game or not, should be another great year of enjoying God's creation and every minute that the Good Lord gives me in it. :archer:

After reading about 5 pages of these posts, I am beginning to imagine I will be getting a tattoo that says, "Poser"......I need to get out beyond the DC Beltway...
So, the highlight of my season may be reading all the hunt success threads from those of you who DO go on adventures this year.

The hunt is the adventure . The Maryland marsh and NY Adirondacks . With my health problems the hardest part will be getting the game out , more so in the Adirondacks as I hope to get a bear and the deer are big up there .
May life's simplest things bring you the greatest pleasures !!!
