Hi guys, well it all started with a late evening trip to Jays in Clare MI after a bow hunt last early Nov 2013. Jays has a good selection of Trad archery gear and I made the mistake of picking up a Bear Kodiak TD B Riser #1 limbs beauty. Birth marking on the riser in all the right spots and just the right specs at 50#@28" which weighted in at 57# at my draw. I said get it strung up and lets take her around the block. 6 shots in and i was just smiling, she zipped an arrow and the mass weight of the bow just held on target so well. Old Fred had it right with this one! Maybe it was sweet November and the lore of living in Michigan but that Bear was in the Jeep headed home with me. I couldn't remember being this excited with a purchase in a long time it felt like Fred was in the back seat as we jammed home to some Fred Bear hunt music. :coffee: :coffee:

Chad,
I couldn't resist either. I got mine from Big Jim's (sponsor here).

I got the A handle model with #1 limbs, so it makes a tidy 56" package.

It was an impulse but for me! A good one though! Otherwise Big Jim would have got the call.

Beautiful bow and some good shooting! Congrats.

Man I love the bear takedowns. I will soon be adding one to my collection. I really like the B handle -

Yes they are terrific shooters, yours has same very nice colors.

They both look great guys! If I were buying a brand new bow, that is what I would get too. Even a mag riser would be nice, just not as pretty.Chad you must have a VERY long draw!

Have any of you guys handled the two-tone and the black maple side by side? Are the grips the same? I am kind of on the fence about which one to get. I like the thinner smaller grips like the old "Green Stripes"

I made some big Jim GT wood blems up and those arrows where flying good out of the bow tipped with some 175 grain woodsmen's. I never got a shot opportunity until late Dec archery season. I had a whole army of does and one spike buck come by my stand one night. With only one deer in the freezer and 2 growing boys the first good shot opportunity was what I was taking. I nice 1.5 year old doe did just that I slowly raised the Kodiak and came to full draw, hit my anchor and released! With over a foot of snow on the ground and 12 plus deer bolting off in every direction I lost track of my quarry quickly. The shot felt good and I was more then happy to sit in my stand until dark. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

I'm only a 29" draw so either those limbs where miss marked or on the high side of Bears + or - weight tolerance.

I have played with them both and the Two Tone is a little smaller I never put a mic to it but it did feel smaller for sure.

After a long search for blood and every set of tracks in the snow trailed I had to give up the search until morning. :(

Well after hours of searching and 3 cold boys we called it off for the morning. Not one speck of blood on SNOW! I was so frustrated.... I was sure the deer was dead but had looked and looked. Three days later this was on my trail camera. I'm am really into EFOC, single bevel, and the rest that goes with it now to say the least. It just shows how truly tough these animals are. Made me sick to see but I guess its better then being dead and not found. Yes that is my arrow....

that's a gorgeous bow. sorry about the loss of venison. hopefully the deer is alive and well and waiting to give you a second opportunity.

I picked up a black maple "A" riser about a month ago. I have a set of #1 limbs that are 47# on and "A" riser and a set of #3 limbs that are 47# on an "A" riser. Great shooting bow. The #1's will be going on for hunting season. Now I have to have a "B" riser. My search for the best TD bow is over. If you haven't tried one, these are real shooters. I had a chance to try one back in May when the Bear reps came to the Baltimore shoot. Over 40 years behind the bow and I'd never shot a Bear TD. Go figure. Better late than never.

Camo ed up the limbs and riser latches. Stands out allot less than black limbs! Plus it was fun, also added a SBD string and some 1 1-4" cat wiskers. So quiet now!
