Title: Lafonds Lightning
Post by: VA Bowbender on September 05, 2014, 09:38:00 PM
Has anyone ever used these broadheads? How was the performance. I shot a few of them today and they few extremely well. The blades are quite thin but appear strong and they take a very good edge.

Made by Louie Lafond, they were a popular head in the 60's. I used them with good success. I'd guess they'd be collectible today.

I used them a lot early on. Sold my last bunch about 2 years ago. They work very well on game…not so durable on stumps and such. Took a very nice edge and made big holes.

Like Bill I used them back in the sixties and early seventies. I killed my first buck with one on November 11, 1969. He is top right in the picture. Where did you find the ones you have.

Bill, I think I'm the guy that bought them from you. I'm just now getting around to cleaning them up, sharpening them and putting them to use.
I could see the aluminum ferrule being a manufacturing flaw. I do like the design and flight characteristics.
Perhaps I'll kill a doe on Wednesday and post the results.
Check out the price in the bottom right corner of the picture.

Yeah Ron , if they're from 1959 that would make them fairly collectable. Heck I'm only 3 years older than they are. I'll take the best one and put it up with some of my others.
