Hey guys I have a neat old 50's back quiver that I have been using for the last 15 years. It's finally done and being retired to the shelf as the leather is just falling apart.
Do you have any good back quivers to suggest?
Also- at a shoot the other day, I saw a guy using a back pocket style quiver. What do you guys think of those? I have never used one but I think I would like to. My only reservation is I have always had a back quiver and therefore a BUNCH of arrows with me. Are you happy with just 6 arrows? Recommendations for pocket/hip quivers?

Man, that's totally personal preference. If you can be happy with just 3 or 4 arrows, the pocket quivers sure do look convenient and unobtrusive. I shoot with a guy that uses one, but haven't had a chance to try one myself.
Personally, I started with a rover style side quiver, then made myself a back quiver that I used for several years, but now I'm thinking of making myself another side quiver, as I just like them so much more.
If you can, I would try to try out a couple different styles by borrowing from friends, etc. to figure out what you enjoy the most.

I will definitely vouch for the quality and durability of Mikes quivers, arm guards and anything leather! My back quiver from Mike has been with me for about seven years now and will be the one that always stays. Give him a look see and you won't be disappointed! :thumbsup:

I like the back-pocket quiver for 3D shoots-- I typically carry 4 arrows for a 3D shoot. Up to 6 arrows should be fine. Nice, simple and minimalistic.
For 3D shoots and roving/stumping, I also like a belt-mounted hip quiver (the kind with a pocket that holds up to about 6 arrows, with the arrows angled back slightly; not the kind for broadheads where each shaft clips into an arrow holder-- this is too much work for field points). The one I have has an elastic loop to slide a pencil in, and an outer pocket to slip a scorecard in-- nice for 3D shoots.

I made a Hill style back quiver that I'm in love with.

All in all I had about $50 in it but the price on the leather I used went up so it'd be a bit more expensive. Took me about 2 hours or so to make it and had a lot of fun making it.
I've been using it exclusively, and got it broken in. Took a few weeks for it to break in. But it is very comfortable, surprisingly quiet now that I've cushioned the bottom, and holds a lot of arrows. I loaded it down with 2 dozen just to play with it and it didn't seem to matter one bit. I could still draw my arrows out just fine. Eventually I'd like to take it hunting. I'd be able to carry several broadheads, blunts, maybe even a good wide turkey broadhead without problem. I'm looking to modify it a little with a pocket to hold some basic things such as broadhead file, spare string and tab, spare broadhead and blunt. But that's easy to do. I just need a thinner leather. I'd like to get that done before I go hunting with it. But I'm not in a hurry for that. I still need to get good enough to hunt.

This quiver will a lot of arrows, I have had over a dozen in it for an archery golf shoot, the bottom is over a 1/2" thick so it can handle a lifetimes wear and tear of broadheads!

I like both of his back quiver designs, but I like the shape of the integral "Large Hunter" strap the best. It feels more comfortable than the Hill style strap.
Mike also makes a simple but effective pocket quiver I use a lot in the yard and at some of the smaller 3D shoots.
