Any of you guys wear or have worn these boots?
I want to get a jump start on a next fall Idaho elk hunt so I'm doing my looking now so I have a good break in period.
Are they to stiff of a boot for my normal flat/small hill hunting here in nebraska? I want to be able to get some use out of them around home hunting if Im gonna drop that kind of cash.
Thank
Cory

You'll find some good information about those including some reviews on Rokslide.com.
I've read they are stiffer than my Asolo's so they are definitely geared towards the mountains.
Good luck in the search.

I have hanwag yukons, similar to the Alaskan but a leather lined boot rather than gore-tex. They are stiff, I bought them for chasing goats, sheep and caribou with 50 plus pound packs going in. I have worn them for deer and bear hunting and they are plenty comfortable, just heavy compared to light day hikers or rubber boots.
Love the lacing system on hanwag boots. A top quality product for sure.

I have a pair of Hanwag Mountain Light GTX boots and absolutely love them. They are real similar to the Alaskans, just a little bit lighter due to some synthetic material substituted for leather. I would have the Alaskans but I found these used. They are stiff of course, but still fine for flatter stuff. I kindof reserve them though for really harsh multi-day trips so that I don't wear them out too soon, and use lighter cheaper sneaker type boots for a lot of things.

Thanks gents, I ended switch gears a couple times. I tried to get the Hanwag Mntn Light GTX to cut weight but couldn't find my size. Was also told by the rep that he didn't know how long Hanwag would offer this boot.
I ended up going with the Lowa Cevedale GTX Tech Light Hntr from Lathrop and Sons. After talking to Steve Lathrop we decided that this boot would fit my needs. I will have them Friday so we will see how the fit is. It is a fairly new boot so there aren't a bunch reviews out there but everyone I read was positive.
