It dawned on me the other night I have killed deer with two different bows this season. I think its time to bring another from the bullpen. Next up is the Zipper SXT. Strung and shot last night, man its a shooter and fairly easy on the eyes. Hopefully I can make it three bows for the season before it comes to a close.
Have you used multiples or tend to stick with one?

I too have taken multiple bows for a walk in a single season. Can't say I've taken game with all of them but certainly let them see the woods!
I'm sure you'll be posting the 3rd soon TJ... and somehow I won't be surprised!
-
Yep, I've harvested deer with a couple different bows a few times but now prefer to stay with one just to save time :archer2:
Good luck to ya!
-
I've used two bows this year. I'm going to start using a new one I put together and try and get another one.
Good luck to you TJ I'm sure you will be posting success photos soon
-
I'm pretty much a "one bow" guy. The year I had Hope I got several critters each with two different bows!
Good luck getting a notch in the SXT!

That is a beautiful bow. And a great picture as well.
-
Sure. I cant stick with one bow. I killed 3 bucks, a doe, and 2 coyotes last year with 6 different bows.
-
Nice Keith!
-
One at a time for me. I get hung up on one and that's all I want to shoot.
-
Dandy bow tom and I am certain it will see some blood soon here!GOODLUCK

This season, I hunted with a Hill Big 5, a '65 Kodiak, and a '75 Super Kodiak. I'll be taking out a '68 Super K next week when the late archery season opens
-
I've taken animals with multiple bows in a year....and even different bows on the same hunt...and even on the same day.
-
Killed a turkey with a Bear Takedown, and Elk with an A&H ACS and a whitetail with a Morrison Shawnee this year. Not unusual to have several bows in camp at once, and switch off frequently, including same day.
-
I usually end up changing bows sometime during my hunting season. This year though, I'm going to try and stick with one for the whole year. :D
-
Heck, I only owned one bow, (black widow) for 25 years!
-
I tend to have to stick with one bow.
-
I've hunted with two different bows this year but I haven't even shot at a deer this season so far.
-
Good thread. Ive often wondered how common it is to switch bows. Ive taken as many as 12 on a deer hunt. With so many bows I try to switch as much as I can. I have no problems switching, whether its a longbow or recurve.
The only bow I havent killed with is my selfbow with bamboo arrows. I did get some hair though this year in rifle season.
-
Wow, interesting some of you are using different bows on the same hunt. I've never thought about doing that as I am trying to stay somewhat consistent. But If I had to Im sure I could adapt. Most my bows shoot very similar and a few there is no difference at all.
-
Always multiple.
Last year I started throwing a longbow in my arsenal too.
My go to Silvertip recurve most of the time, but
the colder it gets..I shoot lighter recurves.
On rainy days, I shoot my Plain Jane Wapiti.
Pheasants- I shoot some of my vintage bows.
-
Hunted with 2 different bow so far this season - shot a buck in September and a doe last weekend - one with each bow. Have 2 weeks left in season so will try one more bow. I like to shoot them for a week or so before hunting with them - need to adjust I guess.
-
Last winter I killed hogs with 4 different bows.
-
Wow terry your doing all that great hunting and your one state over from me ? I expect an invite !
-
Once I take a deer I'll put that bow up and and continue the season with another.
-
I so far have only switched bows once the hunting season had started one time but I don't tend to have any problem shooting 3d at normal hunting distances so I don't think it would matter unless there was a drastic difference in speed!
-
This year I was planning on staying with one bow. The day I shot my buck, I happen to grab a different bow. I have taken deer with both bows. I love both of the bows I have been shooting this year, and randomly switch from one to another. All my bows shoot the same arrows.
-
I only shoot one. What kinda skins is on your bow? My riser looks similar to yours and I've been kicking around the idea of having mine skinned and like the way yours looks.
-
No problem with using any of my bows either. The key for me is building an arrow for each bow (playing with shaft gpi weight, insert weight but keeping always same point/ broadhead weight )flying at same speed or really close in order to keep the same trajectory and using same open bow hand/relaxed fingers on grip for all the bows.

Terry, you da Man.
I have too many nice Bows to let them on the racks, I use many Bows every season but I mostly use Bows of the same poundage and with the same arrow/Points combo so a minimal difference at my hunting distances.

Well Tom, I've got a few issues in this department....
-
I've taken 2 out this fall, saw plenty of deer in October, just none in my range.

Wesley, those are a great set of copperheads. Bill Dunn put them on when he made the limbs and did a fantastic job of it. The paint color that goes under the very thin skins makes a huge difference in the finished products look. Bill used a tan color under mine.

Good grief not only bow switches but hands also! Winner!!!!
