Title: I'm now officially a Bear Takedown fan
Post by: myshootinstinks on January 06, 2015, 09:26:00 PM
I acquired a used "B" riser and an old set 50# limbs. Was so impressed I jumped in with both feet and picked up a spankin' new 2-tone "A" riser w/ 47# limbs.
Both bows just hit where I look, a natural fit for me. The TD mechanism is the best I've used. Ol' Fred figured it out long ago.

I've been trying to fight the urge for so long. Don't think I can hold out much longer.

I never gave them much thought, just a takedown Super K, and I've owned many Super Ks. There's something about these bows, the weight, balance....or?
    here's the new A riser

Thats great that you finally found one that really  fits you after all these years and millions of dollars Doug LOL.It pays to keep searching. The 2 risers and 2 sets of limbs should be very versatile for you.Congrats and your shooting dont stink anymore. Not that it ever really did pal.

Be careful.  I wanted one in the back of my mind for years.  I finally broke down and bought one a couple of years back.  Fell in love with the T/D and found I shoot them as good as any custom I have ever owned.  This is where I am now, with another on the way...

They are great shooting bows no fear of comparison with the Customs for sure. For me the limit were the old limbs and the Dacron string, the riser is always been world class.

I would be the pot  :)
My mom liked to use that phrase.
I se a Bear Signature T.D somewhere in your future Doug.
I saw one once with gold latches and all yew limbs under clear glass and a bolivian rosewood riser I think? You would like that bow as your holy grail hierloom/collectors peice.
It would fit in nice with your fancy muzzeloaders.
Take care!

I'm enjoying my 2014 Bear two tone A handle take-down with RER #2 aftermarket limbs. This fall gobbler didn't care for it however. 21 yard shot dropped in his tracks going away, backbone/chest hit with Easton Axis Traditional arrows tipped with Kustom King 3 blade Trailmakers.  Although an original Bear quiver would be a nice touch, I love the Great Northern side-mount quiver on this bow.

Beast TDs are great. I have several and they are incredible hunting bows. Once you start shooting one, you understand why there are so many dedicated fans.

Nice job on the gobbler!  I notice you're a cook at Shrewhaven, Ron's a big boy, bet he can put it away....yea?    :saywhat:

Doug,
Ron is a big boy but he doesn't pack the food away like he used to. Also I'll have to change my moniker.  Greg Nicolaou and I used to do most of the cooking at camp but now everyone is pitching in and doing one night cooking their specialty.  I only cooked two meals this year.  Nonetheless we eat extremely well at camp.

I was doing some serious coin flipping on what bow to get this winter. It is a gold coin valued at enough to buy any bow I want.  I happen to think that the Bear Takedown is the most versatile recurve for how I hunt and shoot. After a talk with the boss, who said 'I don't like to see you changing your form so often.' I am going for a nice longbow. I have made some really good hunting shots with Bear takedowns.

Been thinking hard about getting a Bear TD. Haven't been too crazy about the looks of the new risers untill now. I guess the pics on line at the vendors don't do them justice. That is a sharp looking bow Doug. I think you pushed me over the edge.

Mike,
I had the same thoughts as you before I actually had one of the newer ones in my hand.  The photos on the Bear site make the TDs look plain and ordinary.
