Hey guys. Still working on the kid arrows. I have some tung oil I wanted to use if possible. Just wondering if you prefer to wipe or dip and if a crown dip (spray paint) can be done over the oil when done?
Thank you from my children ;)

When I've used tung oil I just wiped it on because I wanted to leave it in the original can - worked great. I wiped on a few layers until I got the right color.
I can't say I've painted over it, it would most likely depend what type of paint you used. I'll let someone else take that one :D
Make sure you post some pictures once you're done!!

I seal with tung oil, wiping it on. Only paint I have used with it is a "paint pen", for cresting. Have had no problems.
My guess is as long as the tung oil is thoroughly dry, you're good to go.

After I cap and crest I seal my arrows with Wipe On Poly. The only thing I've used tung oil on was gunstocks and it may yellow or darken your paint. If you don't seal your crest it will take an awful beating.

I only used tung oil on arrows once. Fletched a dozen afterwards with Duco and every feather fell off with in several weeks without even shooting them. All the feathers were good to go so I over coated the arrows with wipe-on polly and re-fletched with Duco, and they stayed on that time.

Hmm, I was wanting to use the walnut tung oil for the dark color mainly. I have some poly I could use over the top. Thanks for the tips guys!

Ive used tung oil and ducco with no problems. Maybe not all tung oil is created equal....
Never used tung oil and paint.
Tung oil and stain works well.
