Title: Carbons and Treesharks
Post by: Doug_K on March 08, 2015, 01:56:00 PM
Hey all, planning on switching over to Simmons this year for whitetails & turkey. I bought some glue on Treesharks last season for some woodies, and though I didn't get a shot at an animal, they flew great.

My issue is it looks like the  screw on tree sharks require a longer arrow. Would I be better off adapting the glue ons? Or should I just build the arrow for the screw on head?

I would think the screw on head would be more sturdy than an adapted glue on.

I've used both. The screw-ons do require about an extra inch of arrow, so you need to consider that when tuning. On the other hand, the glue on with a long adapter will weigh about 210, versus the 190 screw on.

I think I like the glue on more, but if arrow length is not an issue I doubt it matters at all.

I usually shoot 225 grains up front, so the adapter will bring me pretty close. Guess I'll go that route first and see how it works out.

Thanks for the input

Definitely go with the glue on with an adapter. I've used both. The screw-ons are much weaker. It seemed I'd get one animal with a screw on head and one of the trailing blades would have a slight bend in it.
